Bio
The Ox Magnolia is comprised of Caleb Gray, Joshua Ling and Jessie Ling. Founded in October 2008
by Gray out of a studio apartment in Denton, Tx, fresh on the heels of an amicable departure as lead guitarist
of Denton's Matthew and the Arrogant Sea, Gray honed his craft as a solo outfit for several months, producing
the bands early catalog (Spell Sign/Hidden Languages, Only Some Place and Norman) and style, leaning more
towards the glacial or sparse spectrum of experimental folk music.
Towards the end of 2008 Gray relocated his family
to a small town in North Carolina. Continuing his exhibition as The Ox Magnolia, Gray introduced a new sound and collection of material entitled "Great Northern" in the spring of 2009. After playing several shows in support of the album
with fellow troubadour and good friend Joshua Ling, the outfit expanded into a duo, showcasing both artists individual gifts as a whole.
The fall of 2009 led to the introduction of Joshua's younger sister Jessie to the fold, which not only furthered the style the duo
was graciously developing, but lended a more "traditional" sensitivity to the band's burgeoning indie/folk aesthetic.
The Ox Magnolia is currently based out of Greensboro, NC.
