Rewind: Spring 2002:

Downtown Los Angeles….The Pacific is born in a musty, smoky, beer-drenched rehersal studio next to the Los Angeles River. The details leading up to the formation are for the official biography.

Arshak Alozian (Bass, vocals)
Curt Barlage (Lead Vocals, guitar)
Mike Monosky (Guitar, vocals)
Geoff Riley (Drums)

Four lads with a common passion for melody, anthemic pop records, the sounds of Manchester, and old soul. Oh yeah, and Geoff loves The Flaming Lips. They all do, but he’s a lifer.

Like every other rock & roll band in a town of smoke and mirrors, The Pacific start at ground zero playing the same dive bars of a big city…trudging and plodding their way through the beginning months of some empty halls, blank stares and a town who just didn’t care. That quickly changes.

Fast Forward: Winter 2002:

Taking matters into their own hands with a burning passion to get their music out for people to hear, to feel, to own as their own, The Pacific release, “Mystery of the Stars, EP,” to a sold out Knitting Factory Alterknit Lounge in Hollywood. The band’s reputation grows quickly from passionate songwriting, heavy drinking and a voracious appetite for a rock & roll lifestyle that most bands only get half-right.

Slide Ahead: 2003:

Swinghouse (Hollywood) takes a massive interest in The Pacific and puts out The Pacific/Silent Gray Split EP, a 6-song effort that quickly catches the attention of radio stations throughout the nation. The Pacific/Silent Gray Split E.P. receives extensive national airplay and charts at #6 in several national Alternative Specialty Charts. You quite possibly could be hearing The Pacific on one of the following stations who are routinely spinning, “See to Believe,” by The Pacific.

KMRJ FM99.5 Palm Springs WANZ Z100.5 (Tuscaloosa, AL)
KTCL Denver WNNX 99X (Atlanta, GA)
KRTQ WBCN
WGMR State College, PA WXDX 105.9 the X in Pittsburgh, PA
WOXY (woxy.com) WRN (Omaha, NE)
102.3 Tulsa, OK
WWCD FM101 Columbus, OH
In addition to the successful radio run, The Pacific continue to build a sizable following in and around Southern California burning through the local club scene at a clip of 100+ shows…most notably headlining 3 sold-out Swinghouse Presents Shows at The Knitting Factory (main stage) in Hollywood.

Restless and Busy: 2004:

Los Angeles starts to feel small and the walls close in. The Pacific spend 2003 and 2004 winning over crowds the world over, on the Do-it-yourself dime. The year starts with a massive run in London UK on several self-booked shows and a week full of promotion to the UK public. Continuing on the 2003 successful radio run, The Pacific partner with Silent Gray for a 5-date Las Vegas-Tucson-Scottsdale-Palm Desert run that sees a whole new set of fans leaving shows ecstatically following the group back to the hotel for late night sing-along sessions, spinning records, some quality face and drinking time with the band. The band continue with playing Southern California, Vegas and AZ in 2004. Along with a 100+ show clip in 2004, The Pacific take 20+ songs to Producer Warren Huart (The Thrills, Hot Hot Heat, Vendetta Red, Silent Gray, The Ashbury). A new record is born.

Flash to now: 2005: Momentum

The Pacific kick off 2005 with a raucous bang, a 3-show 5-day promotional trip to Philadelphia and New York City in January. The trip, starting with a packed house at Doc Watson’s in Philadephia and ending with a standing ovation at CBGB’s in NYC, helps to add more lift to The Pacific’s rise upward.

Even hipster-favorite and now-massive MySpace.com takes notice and escalated The Pacific to one of its 6, “Featured Bands,” out of 100,000 bands! The Pacific recieve over 5,000 plays of their music on the website in one day! Kids from every corner of the country are begging The Pacific to come play their towns.

Look Ahead: The Future

Where is this ride taking Arshak Alozian, Curt Barlage, Mike Monosky and Geoff Riley? Who knows. But, one thing is for certain….if history is a foreshadow to the future, the answer is clear. UP. And QUICKLY. In only 3 years since the band’s beginning, The Pacific have managed to release 3 records, chart on national FM radio, play the biggest indie venues in the country, tour the UK, and gain national recognition…..ON THEIR OWN.

The Pacific is seeking management, a record deal, and world domination.

The new debut LP is enclosed for your aural pleasure. We’d give you Mystery of the Stars, EP, but the fans bought all the copies.

Peace, Stellas and Rock & Roll,
The Pacific
