Bio

The Parks Dept. is the creation of Northampton based musician / producer Luke Farmer. Formerly with band Kapowski, who supported the likes of The Mystery Jets, The Noisettes and Super Furry Animals, Luke Farmer broke off to write and produce his own brand of indie electro armed with his laptop, drum machine and fender bronco. After the release of his 2007 solo debut EP The Weekend Starts Round Here -, remixed by Matt Eaton of Pram on Kooky Discs - Luke enlisted an army of noisemakers to grow the electronic laptop project to a fully fledged six piece live electro whirling dervish.

After spending time touring around the UK, the debut album No/Noise is the self written, self recorded and self produced second offering for 2010. The songs, while intense and volatile within the album, leap from the stage during the live shows with the backing of three synths, guitar, bass, banging drums and even cowbells bringing this album to life. Their sound has been favourably compared to LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk with undertones of Joy Division and less obvious reference points such as Lightning Bolt and Of Montreal.

With 2009 appearances alongside The Hours, Newton Faulkner and Coco Electrik, The Parks Depts debut album No/Noise is released in early February 2010 followed by a UK tour in February and March.
