Bio
The Peace are at the forefront of a burgeoning music movement they call hip folk (hip hop + folk). Inspired by far ranging artists such as Dave Matthews, KRS One and Notorious B.I.G., The Peace's self titled debut is a powerful introduction to their signature style. Focusing on peace, love and positive energy, The Peace bridge the gap between the idealistic 60’s and the multicultural stew of today’s popular music. The Peace are both a reflection of American music today and a harbinger of what’s to come.
Defined as a musical style, hip folk is literally a melting pot of the hip hop and folk traditions. Take the rhythms of Jay-Z and the folk guitar of Jack Johnson, and you’re on the right track. Hip folk mixes adept lyricism with acoustic grooves to create a distinctly original sound that projects the future of popular music.
Straight off of an endorsement by Skope Magazine and incredible partnerships with Brian Gerhard at Rocketshop Promotions and Steffen Franz (Beastie Boys, Mixmaster Mike) at IDC, The Peace are focusing all of their attention on festivals this summer.
Judging from the band's tour schedule, college students are requesting The Peace on their campus now more than ever. With songs like "The 90s" and "Goin' to Yoga," it's clear to see why. Next up for these hip hop - folk rockers is to perform at summer festivals around the world, where often thousands gather to enjoy great vibes, good music and healthy community.
