The Phantom Light
www.myspace.com/thephantomlight
Ethereal, slow-paced dream pop from a Swansea trio whose floating synth and echoey guitars with some other worldly vocals fall between vintage ‘50s Phil Spector wall of sound, reverb-drenched shoegazing and emotive Mary Chain at their most haunting. - www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk

"Introducing..."

"Welshmen The Phantom Light create some irresistibly soothing outer-space melodies and pepper them with grains of trip-hoppy electronica. This mixed with some seriously old-school sounds - strings, keys, woodwinds... and voices that float - results in... beautifully enhanced gazer-fare that stays true to its roots while simultaneously appearing unmistakably modern. Nothing you'll regret listening to." - Vesper (Ambient Airwaves, March 2010) - Vesper - Ambient Airwaves

Born in October 2009, The Phantom Light are a 6 piece ambient/shoegaze/dream pop band from Swansea & Bristol, UK.

Heavily influenced by layers upon layers of sounds and effects and bands such as Mono, Explosions in the Sky, Animal Collective, Slowdive, Hammock, Radiohead.

The name comes from a 1935 film called The Phantom Light following the disappearance of two lighthouse keepers stationed on the desolate coast of Wales.

At the end of February 2010 on the strength of the bands first demo the, out of 1600 entrants, made the final 12 of the Emerging Talent Contest to play in front of Michael & Emily Eavis for a possible place at 2010's 40th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival. The bands were whittled down from 50 - 12 by Emily Eavis, Nick Dewey (who books Pyramid and Park stages among others), Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Paul Rees (Q editor) and Dave Henderson (Queen's Head Stage).

The Phantom Light are currently in the studio finishing their debut album. The Greater Picture & Secrets will be the first official release in May 2012, with an album to follow this later on in 2012.
