Bio

THE PHILHARMONIC (f.k.a. Epoxy Ruin) debuted with a NewMusicWest 2002 Festival showcase, a nation-wide broadcast of their song "Grety Don’t Know" following shortly thereafter on CBC Radio3.

Spring 2003 saw the group solidify their line-up with Dom’s arrival, and by summer they recorded their debut album, “Epoxy Ruin,” in upstate New York, mixed by Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields), and mastered by Gene Paul (John Coltrane, Jim Carroll). Constantly writing, the group recorded "Unmastered/Play Loud" EP with engineer Scott Ternan (Sam Roberts, Hot Hot Heat) in March 2004, on the eve of which the WESTENDER remarked the group had "energy and enthusiasm to spare." That energy brings new converts with every performance. The group even dabbled in film, collaborating on an eye-catching video for debut lead-off track "Acerbic" with director Ryan Gander (Counterpoint Films). Ryan has since enhanced the stage show with equally stunning punk/pop-art visuals, while “Acerbic” itself has been added to the MuchMusic playlist, as featured on "The Wedge" and "Going Coastal," as well as in the 3rd annual Independent Music Video Festival (Cinestir/Rumbletone Productions). The group also recently performed at Wake West 2004 alongside The Tea Party and Limblifter.

THE PHILHARMONIC is focused on being a true career band. Having yet barely scratched the surface, with touring and further recording imminent, as well as a new video for “Monkey” produced by Greg Milton (New Pornographers), they’ll prove a strong force.
