"July, 2005 Press Review"

Review by Bobby Parker, Power 750 WAUG, Raleigh, N.C. (2000 Gospel Announcer Stellar Winner)

I like this group from the Washington, D.C. - Maryland area and they have that '70s groove to them that I like and these gentlemen can really SING. They are the Pilot-Aires and they are flying high for the Lord on their new project, "Turn It Over". Now open the project and check out their sound..see what I mean. "Pray" is the first cut and they are singing for us to just pray. Listen to the slow song, "His Name is Jesus", it's like listening toe the Gospel version of the Chi-Lites or the Manhattans R&B style. It's all about Jesus on this CD and quartet fans will enjoy this one. Pilot-Aires, you guys are flying high in my book. Grace-n-Peace! - Good News Gazette, Goldsboro, N.C.

Bio

The Pilot-Aires are a dream come true for founding member, Billy Ray Mickens. Mr. Mickens has always had a love for gospel music and for many years had wanted to establish his own quartet. Finally, in 1996, along with McCoy Hendrick and James Fleming, the Pilot-Aires were formed.

Since there formation, the Pilot-Aires have traveled extensively bringing GOD's message through music. The Pilot-Aires have been featured guests on several gospel television programs and have ministered at many of the Gospel Fests and churches in the Washington, D.C. - Maryland - Virginia area.

Additionally, the Pilot-Aires have been blessed to sing with noted gospel artists such as Paul Beasley, the Swanee Quintet, Luther Barnes, The Sensational Nightingales and Rev. James Flowers.

From Websters' Dictionary:
Pilot: A person qualified to take chage of a ship entering or nearing a harbor; a steersman, a guide.

Air: The atmosphere, a gas, a light breeze. A tune, song.

We, therefore, say our name means "Guiding Souls to Christ through Song"
