The Pilot Light

So I was listening to the Strokes the other day, and I was completely rocking out. Then, completely by accident, my elbow pressed enter and I was suddenly listening to "Sic Transit Gloria. Glory Fades" by Brand New. My emotions on this subject: "AUGH HORRIBLE MOOD CHANGE!" and my ears were pained. I considered switching back to the Strokes, but that would involve another drastic mood change. Instead, I listened to the Pilot Light. It suddenly all fell together! The Pilot Light is the missing link between the Strokes and Brand New! Between upbeat rock and emo! Between ape and man (ok this one's pushing it)!

This is a nice indie-rock album, and one worth listening to, because the bassist will blow you away. It's a brilliant example of the American music scene today: observe the best elements of other bands, replicate, put them together, call it your own, and score legions of fans from the victim band. I'm all for it, cause good music is good music, regardless of where it came from."

Reminds me of Jonathon Richman, the Ramones, the Replacements, the Cure, Guided By Voices, and too many other great things to list. the songs and guitar parts are unbelievable. the bass lines and backing vocals are eery and amazing. the drum parts are tooth-rotting-sweet.
