Biography

The Painted Pines write alt. country folk/rock. That sounds like a mouthful - but they aren't traditional country, and they aren't traditional folk. The Painted Pines write lyrics one can relate to, and infectious melodies that you won't be able to resist tapping your feet along to.

Jamie Gould has always sung - from Royal Conservatory competitions, singing on her childhood school bus, to forming her first band Plumm when she was 19. From there she cut her first album which received regular radio play, had a song in a movie, and opened for Richard Buckner – who told her she has the voice of an angel.

Charlie Loudowl's beats and rhythms complement the effortless sound of this vocal driven band. He not only gets what this music about, he looks cool while playing it. Chuck is also a published author, and an amazing painter.

Todd Maduke plays guitar and mandolin in The Painted Pines. He is a lover, not a fighter. Is not now and has never been a member of the Communist party. He also plays in The Ruminants and The Bigfoot Rocketship - and he kicks ass on stage.

Jay Nelson is the new rhythm player for The Painted Pines replacing original member Becky Salmond. Jay is an accomplished player and has spent years honing his craft. He also plays with Scott Macleod and Deon Blyan. He has some of the nicest guitars you'll ever see, and he's got the chops to more than do them justice!

Lyrics

Checked Out

Written By: Jamie Gould

Verse:

You crashed into my heart
You didn't wanna stick around
But you knew all the right words to say and you'd already checked out

You didn't wanna know my kids
Didn't wanna play the part
When I was trying to take it slow, you crashed into my heart

Ba da da da Ba da da da

Chorus:

My eyes, the colour of sad
You'll never know what you could have had
My blue eyes turn to grey
Everytime you walk away

Verse:

You left me your bills
And unpaid heart
Storms come and storms go but it's not what I want

I took to faith
Causes calling my name
Scriptures filling me in, told me who to blame

Ba da da da Ba da da da

Chorus:

My eyes, the colour of sad
You'll never know what you could have had
My blue eyes turn to grey
Everytime you walk away

((Solo))

Verse:

You crashed into my heart
Didn't wanna stick around
I wish from the start, I would have kicked you out

Saved all of your truths
Saved all of your lies
Now I've got the proof
And I'm ready to say good-bye

Ba da da da Ba da da da

Chorus:

My eyes, the colour of sad
You'll never know what you could have had
My blue eyes turn to grey
Everytime you walk away
Everytime you walk away

Ba da da da Ba da da da
Ba da da da Ba da da da
