Bio

A long time ago in a flamingo infested paved paradise, Alex Madej (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard) and Joe Rajka (vocals, guitar, bass, nose) played together since the invention of light. They formed countless bands, many of which Joe was secretly kicked out of (maybe it was his nose?) After forming their newest incarnation The Marauders, they began cultivating a thunderously loud live show that often ended in strangled guitar sacrifices. Addie Wallo (drums, vocals, couch) attended countless rituals with the elusive Jape Woldf. With the final screeching sounds of a dying band, Alex met Morgan Kopper (again, vocals, guitar, bass. See a pattern here?), a funny little guy who looked like the beach and smelled like dandelions. Together with Addie, they formed the group Savoir Faire. After many a dull show, they reformed as The Pistolettes, not to be confused with the Austin Texas Go Go gals, The Pistolettes. They recorded for 3 years without producing any substantial results. In time, it was written in stone somewhere, deep in the Indiana Jones cave from the first film, that Joe would return; and in 2016, return he did. With this, he brought new life to the group and together, they released their first album, Chupacabra, on Subterranean Cat Records.

The Pistolettes deliver the sounds of true stories like a harp from hell (thanks Danny) with punchy delivery, a la The Who, and charging melodies the likes of Hamberg era Beatles (sorry Pete!) Sliding gleefully atop the locomotive of sound, Morgan and Alex’s lyrics interweave brazen tongue-n-cheek declarations of irresponsibility with brutal honesty and unpredictability. Their electrifying live performances, often culminating in a combination of both slapstick and punk rock momentum, are the kind of thing you’d dream about on the night before Christmas: there’s gremlins in the attic & the tree is on fire.
