The Plug In

The Plug In

BandRockPop

Loud, smart rock with electronic and pop influence. Literary lyrics and strong melodies. Good for dancing, good for rocking out, good for the brain.

Biography

"Surprisingly jazzy for dudes with such floppy hair."

"Is that a Bowie song I haven't heard before?"

"Like Rush in a steel cage match with Joy Division."

The Plug In (formerly known as MA46) is hard to pin down in one sentence, but when people try, it's always interesting. The band's not a typical crew of rockers - two computer programmers, a graphic designer, and an astronomer banding together under the banner of loud, fun music. This combined with their diverse musical backgrounds lends depth and variety to their deceptively simple and catchy tunes that tradein imagery of heartbreak and violence as well as defiance and hope. On stage, MA46 makes it look good as well as making it look easy -- frontman Daniel Hengeveld and synthsman / occasional fashion designer Courtenay Gasking are known for their fancy jackets and designer shoes.

Founded in 2006, MA46 has played many Los Angeles venues in support of their 2009 EP Letters And Numbers and is currently recording their full-length expected for release in early 2010. Their new work has drawn comparisons to Muse as well as The Killers.
