Biography

The Pop Kids are a four-piece indie-pop band based out of LA. Brother/Sister team Neil and Becca Pop Kid have been making music together since childhood. In 2003 they escaped the chilly winters of their hometown of Boston for the West Coast. Together, with the multi-talented Billy Mohler of the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex on drums, they decided to start a band. Once they met guitarist Matt Bennett the band chemistry was undeniable and The Pop Kids were complete.

The Pop Kids have performed throughout Los Angeles and Massachusetts, with shows at Spaceland, The Echo, and The Viper Room to name just a few. The band has developed a loyal bi-coastal fanbase including Jonathan Richman of the Modern Lovers who personally invited the band to open for him at a special hometown performance.

The songs are catchy as sin, creating a blend of moving elaborate pop and melodic sensibility that sneaks its way under your skin. ‘Supposed Human,’ off The Pop Kids EP, is the featured track in the Etnies Footwear Fight Club Surf Video.

The band has recently been featured on this year’s Surround Sound Vol. 3 Lab and Camp CD Compilation, along side Bad Religion, Oslo, and the Randies, made available at the famous Anti-mall in Costa Mesa. With a live performance on 88.9 FM KXLU, airplay on the Indie103.1 local music show, and a live show on Killradio.org, The Pop Kids have been making their presence known.

Intense, moving, original, and stunningly beautiful, The Pop Kids know who they are and are ready to explode.
