"The Price Is Rice releases new single 'Different Back Then'"

The rock trio known as The Price Is Rice has released their newest rock single, “Different Back Then.” Their new song has been released on the Acoustic Revolution Records music label. “Different Back Then” is the most significant and anxiously awaited music from The Price Is rice since their patriotic 2012 single, “With Eagles Might.” This new song is packed with the same groove, class, and fun that the public has come to expect from the 'Rice crew, but with an added emphasis on the current state of music that brings glad memories of the way rock 'n' roll used to be into focus.

Singer-songwriter Daimon Price writes of these themes, “'Different Back Then' is my homage to growing up in the 80’s when music was about great song writing and simply feeling good.”

For music fans who may be uninitiated in the era, music in the 1980s was often characterized by upbeat, danceable songs with well written lyrics about youthful, carefree topics. With synthetic instrumentation still in its rudimentary stages, players needed stunning expertise to garner a large following. Guitarists like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen raised the bar to nearly impossible heights, while drummers like Neil Peart and Phil Collins kept time like atomic clocks. Though exceptions to these rules certainly existed during the neon decade, poorly written, poorly performed songs very rarely appeared on the radio. Regardless of one's personal taste, there was something undeniably catchy and fantastic about nearly every song on nearly every station.

“I wanted to capture the excitement of those long drives where you you couldn’t wait to hear what was next on the FM station!” Price writes excitedly. “Being a huge fan of iconic musicians like The Cure, John Mellencamp, and Tears for Fears, I wanted to write a musical 'thank you' to them and to all the artists who gave us their heart and soul in a decade that gave me memories I will always cherish.”

Speaking from the year 2013, while college students are doing their best to look like actors in John Hughes films and high school kids are forming synth-pop bands to sound as close to Erasure as possible, Daimon Price's opinion in “Different Back Then” is clearly a popular one.

“Let's face it,” he writes candidly, “the music scene today is just garbage, man… It was really different back then!”

“Different Back Then” by The Price Is Rice is an excellent introduction to one of today's most excellent and fun rock groups. It is available online worldwide early summer, 2013.

"THE PRICE IS RICE releases newest single: WITH EAGLES MIGHT"

Veteran acoustic music trio The Price Is Rice have released their new single “With Eagles Might” on Acoustic Revolution Records. The song is a spirit filled composition in the tradition of classic American rock and roll, not unlike acoustic numbers penned and performed by the likes of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Don McLean, or Roy Orbison.

Having performed together for many years, members of The Price Is Rice Daimon and Steve first worked in a Christian rock and roll band called Kingdom. Kingdom saw modest success, opening for such powerhouses as Guardian and headlining their own shows in a steady stream of performances, but in time they felt ready for a hiatus from the rock scene. Joined by member Mark (Daimon's fellow musician from high school garage band days) the trio unplugged their instruments and began anew as the acoustic crew The Price Is Rice. Under this name Daimon, Steve and Mark have been playing acoustic covers of classics, as well as their own original songs, long enough to showcase their conglomerate power in this new single, “With Eagles Might.”

The Price Is Rice have not written the song purely for entertainment, however. As the title may suggest, there is an upright, steadfast, and red-blooded American message at the heart of “With Eagles Might.” Upon being asked what the moral of the tale might be, The Price Is Rice writes, “Despite the differences we may feel at times, especially in an election year, we are confident that our country comes together when it counts! Daimon wrote this song to help the [United States of America] heal and remember who we are, and what we stand for! He truly loves America and wants this song to be an American anthem, similar to Mellencamp’s ”Pink Houses” and ”Our Country,” or Garth Brooks' ”We Shall Be Free!”

The Price Is Rice single, “With Eagles Might” is available at the best online distribution sites starting December 8th, 2012, and is worth any music fan's listen. After all, it's helping the US of A heal where it hurts most.

•Members: Daimon Price, Stephen Rice, Mark Galiyano Jr.

•Style of music: Acoustic singer-songwriters

•Where based: Lehigh Valley

•When formed: 2011

•How band came together: We were in other bands and things didn't go smoothly at times and we decided that we wanted to be acoustic and have some fun and play out.

•Our band in four words: Fun and catchy music

•Influences: The Cure, Jars of Clay, Lifehouse, The Beatles, Styx and Stevie Wonder and many others

•You'll like us if you like: Fun catchy songs from the 70s through 2000s

•Our best original song: "Spirits Live On." It speaks of three very important people in Daimon's life and its a great song.

•Our best cover song: Our Beatles medley of "Revolution," "Drive My Car," "We Can Work it Out" and "Ticket to Ride." The Beatles are timeless.

•Our latest CD: Daimon's solo CD "Live at the Acoustic Lounge." As a group we haven't made a CD.

•Our audience: Generally 30-60 range but we have newer covers that the younger people would like such as Dave Matthews, Maroon 5 and Shinedown.

•Our biggest gig: No stadiums or arenas, yet. But every place we play is a big gig to us.

•Our best moment: Becoming an acoustic group and realizing how quickly we can put songs together. In a three-hour show we'll play 50 or so songs and have over 100 prepared to play at any time.

•Favorite venue: The Blue Monkey because they gave us our first gig and we're always thankful to them for helping us get it going.

•Dream venue: Musikfest.

•A funny story: At Mountainside, a lady cheered in the middle of a song and a little after I said it's great how she liked the song. And she said she cheered 'cause Lehigh scored a late basket against Duke. But we were good, too.

•We hate when audiences: Throw darts at us.

•Goal: To entertain audiences throughout the Lehigh Valley and be a regularly working band.

•Next gigs: 9 p.m. July 13 at the Blue Monkey in Catasauqua; 7 p.m. July 28 on stageit.com, 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at Blue Mountain Summit in Andreas, and 9 p.m. Aug. 1 , an acoustic set at the Blue Monkey.

•Comments: We are fans of music not just musicians and we want to have fun and see others have fun. Our slogan is "Let's Get Mild" because sitting and relaxing and singing along is what we look to get out of our audiences. Look for us on Facebook: The Price is Rice/facebook. - The Morning Call

Bio

Daimon and Steve have performed together for many years, beginning in the Christian Rock group KINGDON back in the mid 90's. Having opened for Guardian, as well as headlining several shows, the duo decided to take a break from rock music to pursue a more mellow musical path.

After seeing an incredible live performance by Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades in 2010, Daimon and Steve were inspired to create a brand new project based on the SHAW/BLADES model. Stripping their favorite songs down to their original inspiration, the group now performs all acoustic music including classic hits and original compositions.

Mark performed with Daimon many years ago while the two were in high school and are very excited to be reunited for the next chapter in their musical journey! He continues to give the group the ability to perform music of all styles, as well as ensuring the perfect live sound that people have come to expect at every performance!

With the recent addition of viola virtuoso ROSE PRICE, the group has found the final piece in fulfilling a musical vision Daimon and Steve began in 2010! The four piece acoustic group is prepared to deliver a unique blend of music that can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

The groups first two worldwide singles WITH EAGLES MIGHT and DIFFERENT BACK THEN, under their record label "Acoustic Revolution Records" are currently available on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify, and all major online retailers! The group was also recently featured on WFMZ channel 69! Music Monday!

THE PRICE IS RICE hopes to release their first full length CD "Acoustic Revolution" by Christmas of 2013!
