Bio

Every member of the Prolific is a true master of their instrument, but Jesse Thompson's soulful vocal style will leave you breathless. "Her voice is just the right combination of sex and gravel." Jesse's wild style, crazy hair, and flailing barefoot performances will leave you mesmerized. Jesse is a truly free spirit in touch with the earth. She makes most of her own clothes and jewelery, paints and draws much of the artwork for the band, and is heavily involved with community based organizations.

A recent article about the band said, "While the entire band are masterful instrumentalists, Steph Prolific is possibly the best female drummer to ever live. Her flailing red hair is almost enough to make you miss how technically proficient her playing is." Her drumming was even featured on the Jumbotron at Arrowhead stadium. Steph can also be found throughout KC performing with touring & local groups, Broadway-style productions, and various theatre organizations.

"Josh Veach has crafted his own personal blend of feedback, noise and effects with almost saccharin 'pop-catchy' melodies and soaring guitar solos." In these days of minimalist, backseat, 4 chord guitar players, Josh stands out as a true to life Guitar Hero. "If Josh ever decides to hang up the guitar he could probably be a stand-up comedian. He's one of the funniest people I've ever met." Josh loves movies, both watching and creating. He can quote almost every line from every movie ever made (true story), and he has made several youtube comedy series that have garnered remarkable cult followings.

Raised in South Africa, bassist Walt Powell plays bass like no-one you've ever seen. Oftentimes bassists may go unnoticed, but Walt's style of slapping, tapping, hitting, scratching and thumping somehow combine to create not only beautifully noticeable music, but also a live experience of flying fingers that's hard to miss. Walt is a bit of a nerd at heart. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and is involved with many political and human rights groups.

When you put these pieces together, what they create is a show that is so entertaining and captivating that the music almost sneaks up on you. If you see a Prolific show, you will undoubtedly have at least one of their songs stuck in your head for days.

Earlier this year The Prolific hit the studio to work on their first full length album. The band approached songwriting together, imposing no rules as to what the new music would sound like. With musical backgrounds ranging from Broadway to Reggae, they began constructing songs with colorful personalities, loud, sonic choruses, delicate soulful breakdowns, and dance-infused funk. They wanted the album to give listeners the feeling that they were front and center at a Prolific show, and once it was complete, the band knew they had created something special.

With much anticipation for the new record (set to be released in Spring 2012), the band is currently hard at work playing local and regional shows, as well as putting the finishing touches on the album.
