"In existence for less than a year, at times they show themselves to be capable of writing Sufjan-esque pop gems (see "The Start"), on which their music and their vocals coalesce into something truly special. The Start single-handedly makes the whole EP worth downloading."

Bio

Move west and become a farmer or move east and become a fisherman, for one year.

Those were the two choices I gave myself in the summer of 2006. My plan was to live in seclusion, work sun up to sun down, and spend my evenings drinking hard and writing a collection of songs to record a year later with the money I had earned. The plan seemed simple enough, and after some research I decided west was where I wanted to go. I lined up a job on a farm in Red Deer, Alberta, and prepared to say goodbye to Ontario.

It seemed that fate had other plans.

I was forced to cancel the trip after a night of drinking caused a near fatal injury to my right wrist, which severed most of my tendons and left me with no feeling in my hand. As if that wasn’t bad enough, during the healing process I became addicted to pain killers. My life was a real mess. I couldn’t work, I couldn’t play guitar, and my pile of bills was growing out of control. So I did what anyone in my situation would do, one night I packed as much stuff as I could into my car and moved to Ottawa.

It took a while to get settled in, but after a few years Ottawa really became home.
I got most of the use of my hand back, made a ton of new friends, and finally started writing the kind of songs I’d always wanted to.

It wasn’t until the fall of 2008 that The Property Line began to form. I slowly started recruiting friends and people I met through the local scene, and after a bunch of line up changes, we arrived at our current line up in May 2009. Some of us were old friends, and some of us had never met before, but we all knew that for the first time in this band, everything felt right.

With a few shows under our belt we hit the studio during the summer of ‘09 to record our debut EP, This Is My House. The entire project was spanned over eight days, during the most storm ridden summer in Ottawa history. While tracking, we actually lost power a few times. This Is My House was released digitally on September 30th ’09 as a free download, and physically on October 15th ’09.

As for now, we’re highway bound.

Sincerely yours,
