The Purple Doors

 Pine Bluff, Arkansas, USA
BandChristianAcoustic

The Purple Doors Praise Band is a contemporary Christian genre band whose simple mission is to share our faith through music. We perform original music along with covers of popular Christian hits. The band’s sound ranges from contemporary to gospel and country to rock.

Biography

As of 7/26/07, The Purple Doors have performed at 55 separate events in 2007! Not including practices and studio time for their 2nd CD due to release this Fall.

Our mission takes us to hospitals, children's homes, retirement communities, churches, summer camps. coffee houses and civic events. What a wonderful mission! A lot of these people are unable to get out and attend church, much less a praise concert.

In December 2006, we released our first CD, "The Purple Doors" . 10 of the 16 songs are originals. The music has been purchased in Europe, Asia and the USA. The 2nd CD is due out in the Fall of 2007 with 12 new original songs.

Our music has influences from the South ranging from gospel to contemporary and country to rock. The acoustic blends and rhythms reflect the musical roots and talents of these "purple folks" from Ark., Tenn., Tex. and Ala.

The Stone Was Rolled Away

Written By: Phil Wesson

On that Friday long ago our Lord was crucified.
Hope was gone. All was lost. People watched Him die.
Two days later Mary went to where the body lay.
The tomb was empty! He was gone! The stone was rolled away!

And so she ran to the disciples and told them what she'd seen.
That woman was hysterical! Must've been a dream.
Returning to the grave and seeing in the light of day,
The tomb was empty! He was gone! The stone was rolled away!

Yes, the tomb was empty! (The stone was rolled away.)
Jesus wasn't in the grave! (The stone was rolled away.)
No one knew what happened. (The stone was rolled away.)
Where was Jesus? (The stone was rolled away.)

At first they thought that He was stolen and they began to grieve.
But sorrow turned to joy when He appeared and they believed.
What happened all those years ago, we know is true today.
The tomb was empty! Jesus lives! He rolled that stone away!

Yes, the tomb was empty! (The stone was rolled away.)
Jesus wasn't in the grave! (The stone was rolled away.)
He conquered death and lives today. (The stone was rolled away.)
Tell the world, "Christ Jesus lives!" (The stone was rolled away.)

Well, I'd like to take some time and tell you something about me.
Sometimes I close my eyes because I don't want to see.
Sometimes I close my mouth. No one listens anyway.
Sometimes I close my ears 'cause I don't care what you say.

Yes, in a way I'm testifying about the way I sometimes sin.
A stone across my heart lets nothin' out, let's nothin' in.
So I have to ask for Jesus' help. I kneel down and I pray.
And Glory! Hallelujah! Jesus rolls that stone away.

Yes, tell the world, "Christ Jesus lives!" The stone was rolled away.

Alleluia - A - Alleluia

Written By: Phil Wesson

Jesus, He’s my friend.
Jesus, He’s my friend.
You know Jesus. He’s the Promise Man.

Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Praise the Lord.

Jesus said, “Bring the little children to me.”

You know He loves it when He hears them sing. They’re singin’:

Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Praise the Lord.

Singin’ His praise we lift Him higher and higher.

C’mon and sing with the praise band choir. We’re singin’:

Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Praise the Lord.

Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia. Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Alleluia A - Alleluia.
Praise the Lord.

He took me by the hand.
He took me by the hand. Jesus, He took me by the hand.

You know my Savior’s gonna lead me, lead me to the Promised Land.

Jesus, He’s my friend.
Jesus, He’s my friend.
You know Jesus. He’s the Promise Man. He's the Promise Man.

Jesus is the Promise Man.

Grandma's Prayer

Written By: Phil Wesson & Joe Coles

My revival, Grandma’s bible. She read it every day.

Worn out pages. The Rock of Ages. She taught me Jesus is the Way.

Strong enough to love me even when I pushed away.

Every night we’d bow our heads and pray. I’d hear her say,

“Father, love us and protect us. Hold us in Your mighty hand.

We’ll follow Jesus and He will lead us to our Father’s promised land.”

Amen.

All the times I made her cry, I was sure I’d get a beatin’.

She’d never scold me. She’d just hold me. We’d have a “come to Jesus meetin’.”

I feel her love around me like it was yesterday.

Every night I bow my head and pray. I hear her say,

“Father, love us and protect us. Hold us in Your mighty hand.

We’ll follow Jesus and He will lead us to our Father’s promised land.”

Amen.
My revival, Grandma’s bible. She read it every day.

Worn out pages. The Rock of Ages. She taught me Jesus is the Way.

She taught me how to love and she taught me how to care.

I hold my children in my arms and share Grandma’s prayer.

“Father, love us and protect us. Hold us in Your mighty hand.

We’ll follow Jesus and He will lead us to our Father’s promised land.”

Amen.

My revival, Grandma’s bible. I read it every day.

Frog Legs

Written By: Phil Wesson

Spoken: When people are sad, they call it the blues. When frogs are sad, they call it the greens.

Some call me Froggy.
Some call me Toad.
I long for the days when my mama called me little tadpole.
I got the greens; got the greens so bad.
You don’t know how sad … livin’ on this lily pad.

Frog legs for dinner.
Frog legs for lunch.
People eat them frog legs. Yeah, they eat ‘em by the bunch.
I got the greens; got the greens so bad.
You don’t know how sad … livin’ on this lily pad.

Snack time for gators.
Breakfast for fish.
Bein’ kissed by a princess is a froggy’s only wish.
I got the greens; got the greens so bad.
You don’t know how sad … livin’ on this lily pad.
