Who says having a bad thing? The Butthole Surfers have been rocking audiences with their decadent display of on-stage psychedelia since the early '80s. Limp Bizkit, largely in part to Fred Durst's subversive display of backward Yankees cap, enjoyed wild success during the new rock craze. And who can forget Christina Aguilera? Time to add The Pwells, St. Martinville's newest genre-crossing trio of 20-somethings, to the list. Listen to tracks from their debut album, suspiciously titled Grow Some, at your leisure courtesy of myspace.com/thepwells. The track Disgrace, for example, chugs along with a uniform, poppy riff occasionally interupted by not one but two guitar solos-all within 3 minutes and 41 seconds! Compare that to Die Bitch Die, the metal titled, ska-sounding ode to those special, life altering females in all our lives. This particular track sounds as though it was ripped directly from a mid-1990's ska compilation. Find out just how deep The Pwells really go during their release show with The Board. The album will mark the first from Acadiana-based Inner Truth Records. - The TIMES of Acadiana

Bio

Influenced by the great one's who have died doing what they loved, The PWELLS strive to acheive that level of quality which will supercede time itself. Formed in late 2005, we had one goal in mind, to have fun! We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously like we had in the past and like the other bands out there in the scene. We wanted a fun, catchy name that would take people by surprise, so we chose "The Pwells", a cajun-french slang word for pubic hair. It worked. Since February of 2006, The PWELLS have performed about 100 times, recorded a full length debut album entitled, "Grow Some", and built a huge fanbase. Inspired by the likes of Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Jimi Hendrix, and Bradly Nole, guitarist/vocalist Ian unleashes heart-felt sonet's while delivering blistering guitar riffs. With a slightly more metalic influence, Steven drives the beat with powerful hands and lightning quick feet. And who can forget the notorious "Father" John pumping out slap-happy, funky bass lines on his four-strings inspired by The P-Funk, New Orleans second-line, and other rockers like Flea from RHCP. With such a diverse lineup The PWELLS manage hold up the diversity with a variety of material ranging from Ska, Reggae, Funk, Metal, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Soul, Punk, and more. If you are sick of cookie cutter bands that all sound the same, The PWELLS have got the remedy!
