Biography

Influenced by the great one's who have died doing what they loved, The PWELLS strive to acheive that level of quality which will supercede time itself. Formed in late 2005, we had one goal in mind, to have fun! We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously like we had in the past and like the other bands out there in the scene. We wanted a fun, catchy name that would take people by surprise, so we chose "The Pwells", a cajun-french slang word for pubic hair. It worked. Since February of 2006, The PWELLS have performed about 100 times, recorded a full length debut album entitled, "Grow Some", and built a huge fanbase. Inspired by the likes of Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Jimi Hendrix, and Bradly Nole, guitarist/vocalist Ian unleashes heart-felt sonet's while delivering blistering guitar riffs. With a slightly more metalic influence, Steven drives the beat with powerful hands and lightning quick feet. And who can forget the notorious "Father" John pumping out slap-happy, funky bass lines on his four-strings inspired by The P-Funk, New Orleans second-line, and other rockers like Flea from RHCP. With such a diverse lineup The PWELLS manage hold up the diversity with a variety of material ranging from Ska, Reggae, Funk, Metal, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Soul, Punk, and more. If you are sick of cookie cutter bands that all sound the same, The PWELLS have got the remedy!

Disgrace

Written By: Ian-Thomas Bertrand

We're gonna take you for a hell of a ride along the south side.
We're goin' 30 your all dirty with country fried pride.
So when you see us don't you act surprised if we're some different guys.
Than the ones you had in your head before we end up dead.~
You can look me in my eyes.
It ain't no big surprise.
You can see it on my face.
My life is a disgrace!~
So now we've got your attention just take a look around.
Did you know that you are next so just enjoy the sound.
Don't be scared just shake them hairs, there ain't a reason to care.
Let a little time slip by because we're all going die!~
You can see it in my eyes.
It ain't no big surprise.
You can see it on my face.
My life is a disgrace!~

Reggae Love Song

Written By: Ian-Thomas Bertrand

Woman please don't treat me like that other guy.
I deserve for you to let me try.
So just give the chance and I'll show you what it's all about.
I believe, that we can be together till the end.
And I know I'm just your best friend.
I just want you to see how much you mean to me.~
What is love?
Is it like the movies?
The way I wish it would be?
Is it like the way I feel when I see you?
What is love?
I wonder if it could be?
The way I wish it would be?
Cause everything I do is all to be with you!
Baby please.
Let me try to tell you one more time that you never will get out my mind.
It's in the way that you smile and it's bright inside your eyes ooh girl.
Wait and see.
That we can be together till the end and we can do it all over again.
I just want you to see what you mean to me!
What is love?
Is it like the movies?
The way I wish it would be?
Is it like the way I feel when I see you?
What is love?
I wonder if it could be?
The way I wish it would be?
Cause everything I do is all to be with you!

In My Own Way

Written By: Ian-Thomas Bertrand

Who is this man
Standing in my way?
He brings the rain
Sunshine on my day.
This is my world
Do as I say.
I am the king
Of my own day.

I'll sit alone
Dream by myself.
And when I wake
I will be somebody else.
If I should fall
Into your way.
I'll be alright
In my own Way.

Discography

Recorded at Leap Studios in Lafayette, The PWELLS debut album entitled, "Grow Some" was release in late February 2007. Since it's release, it has gotten radio play on the new-rock station 96.5 FM Planet Radio, and has been streaming on myspace.com, garageband.com, thepwells.com, and many more!

Set List

We usually play two sets of about 12-13 songs, which includes mostly original music with a few covers scattered in there. Each set lasts about an hour or more. We do covers that make people move, like Steve Miller band's "The Joker", Stepenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride", and then we'll throw in a few alternative rock songs from Nirvana, Blind Melon, and Tool. With about 20 original songs, we can play all original shows with ease. Then when we add in the 20 or more covers, we can play all night long for any event.
