Bio

The Quiet Excitement, five close friends who have once again gravitated with the common aim of making original music. The band have just released their debut album "Glad to be Alive", a positively charged collection of folk, funk, reggae and blues. The album was recorded largely live in the studio capturing a passion often forgotten in todays hi tech recording process.

The Band Members:
Brian Burdett (Birdy) has been performing professionally as a musician since leaving school. His finely crafted songs have led him to some major gigs including opening for Neil Young at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. His most recent long player, titled "Glad to be Alive" reflects the attitude of the band. The album is diverse and inspiring, incorporating positive funk and reggae, along with storytelling folk songs and tinges of soulful blues.

Guitar playing wunderkind Julz Parker first played professionally with Birdy at the age of fourteen. Her blistering solos and original approach to melody bring a unique flavour to the band. Phil Emmanuel was recently quoted in Australian Guitar Magazine saying that "Julz must be the country's top female player".

Julz has been on a world tour with the third member of TQE, Leesa Gentz. Leesa is most recognised for her soaring vocals and her ability to express her deepest emotions in every song. Julz and Leesa, together as the 'Hussy Hicks' have recently released their debut album and have just returned from a tour of China, the UK, Europe, and the US. They return to join TQE for a national tour of Australia in Sept/Oct/Nov 08. The girls have appeared on releases by The Love Bus, The Crimea, Marshall & the Fro and Kristy Lee. Tracey Stephens is one of the grooviest bass chicks you will ever hear. As a life-long friend of Julz, the chemistry the two share on stage can be other-worldly, sharing the kind of telepathic bond that can only be found in closest friends.

Rohan Hems has been called upon by many of Australia’s notables to be their ‘stick man’. Rohan is what is known in the industry as a ‘monster’, equally adept on drums, bass, guitar, keys and vocals. His CV includes tours with Kevin Borich, Mal Eastick and the Phil Emmanuel Band.
