Bio

The Racer's third LP, GIANT, which was produced by Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra), was released through Invisible Hands Music/Cavigold Records in October of 2016, and they are already back in the studio writing and recording new music as they continue to explore new musical ideas and instrumentation to complete their next release.

The indie band from Monroe, NY is made up of Pete Marotta (vocals), Michael Esserman (guitar), Steve Kondracki (guitar), Eric Sosler (bass), and Michael Perri (drums), but the piano and numerous other electronic devices have begun to find their way into the band's sound, which typically walks the line between low key indie pop and arena-filling radio rock. The Racer eschews labels and can hardly be defined by one genre, but believe they belong among the ranks of artists who have carved out their own musical and commercial niche: Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The National, and Death Cab For Cutie, just to name a few.

The Racer's independent catalog consists of 2010’s Strangers We’ll Become and 2013’s Passengers and they’ve graced the stage at Milwaukee's Summerfest, Austin's SXSW, and Albany’s MOVE Music Fest. They’ve played everywhere from Whisky a Go Go and The Key Club to The Mercury Lounge and The Knitting Factory, opening up for bands such as Matt and Kim, The Spill Canvas, Say Anything, and Collective Soul. And they’ve secured licensing deals that have garnered placements on MTV, CBS, and a host of television commercials.
