"Inthisweek.com Bands: The Radio Rhythm Makers"

The Radio Rhythm Makers is Salt Lake's looking glass to a time when rock 'n' roll was played on record players in the form of Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis.

"The '50s was when music and rock 'n' roll really got going, so it seems like everyone likes to look back on the old stuff to make new songs and sounds," says the band in an e-mail interview.

The six-piece rockabilly group reinvents the wheel through tunes bouncy enough to make anyone stop, bop and jive, and lead vocalist Ashlie's authentic, power-soul/blues voice makes Duffy pale in comparison. You can hear their '50s flashback music on the three demos the band has released over their two years together, as well as on an upcoming album for which they've yet to set a release date. - IN MAGAZINE SLC

"Music | Retro Active: Vintage talk with The Radio Rhythm Makers Ashlie"

Salt Lake City’s Radio Rhythm Makers and Kate LeDeuce & The Soul Terminators have more in common (attention-grabbing front women, killer musicians, head-scratching band names) than not (RRM specialize in neo-rockabilly country swing, KL&ST in funky R&B soul). They’re also playing a show together at Burt’s Tiki Lounge Friday night, and both are currently laying down tracks at the west side’s Salt Lake Recording Service. City Weekly sat down with the Radio Rhythm Makers’ Ashlie (just Ashlie) and LeDeuce at the SLRS studio last week to talk music, retro vs. vintage and a potential lifetime supply of Del Taco.

"What they are saying about the RRM"

"The Makers were awe-inspiring: a six piece band consisting of a drummer, a stand up base, and a gorgeous dark-haired singer who belted out bluesy vocals like Etta James. It reminded me of a big band playing in at a jazz club that has been transported from the 40's. Young rockabilly kids, well dressed middle-aged couples, and even one elderly gentleman were swing dancing around the room, while others sat at tables cabaret-style." - IN MAGAZINE SLC

Bio

We'd like to tell you about a band from SLC, Utah who are creating a buzz everywhere they go. The Radio Rhythm Makers have set themselves apart by rockin' the old-soul R&B like no other roots band around.
The Radio Rhythm Makers formed in the Spring of 2007 as an authentic six piece roots/blues/rockabilly band, featuring 2 guitars, a stand-up bass, saxophone, drums, and the irrepressible Miss Ashlie alternately crooning/belting her unique brand of power-soul blues with a nod to Etta James and Big Mama Thornton.
They played their first show in SLC in the summer of 2007, and the word was out about this band's electric, energetic live performances. They’ve rocked just about every major club in the city as well as countless festivals and events. They have been featured in many glowing magazine and newspaper articles and reviews. They performed live on Park City TV and have been interviewed on the morning show 'Mountain Views'.
They recently appeared live on KRCL 90.9FM, where they blew away all of the listeners with their in-studio performance.
