I liked the sound of the band, very catchy, very happy tone. It was a joy to listen to it, and I look forward to listen to more. It was featured and will continue to be on a feature show promoting upcoming bands and local/indie stuff.

Bio

A Brief Band History
THE RAILS

The Rails are a Toronto based mod trio. The band was formed in 2001 and has recently released their debut 3 song EP called, simply, “Introducing the Rails.”

After year one we decided to begin the process of recording our band. We spoke to the Toronto producer, Rob Sanzo, who agreed to take on the project after hearing our material.

One of Rob’s suggestions in this pre-production phase was to change our keyboard in order to incorporate more of a classic rock sound. Until then we had not had an objective professional opinion about our music.

The drummer for the trio is Hem Advani. He plays in a deceivingly relaxed fashion but somehow manages to be one of the loudest drummers out there. If you are up there on stage next to him you really feel it in your knees.

Nick plays electric guitar. His riffing style is simple and strong. He uses two sounds, clean and dirty. His playing reflects the main chords of the song. Nick is the primary song writer and lyricist for the group.

Louise on keyboards switches between Hammond organ, Rhodes piano and clavicle sounds. Early experience as a trumpet player in a school orchestra gave her an ear for arrangements and harmony.

Most of what Louise plays on keyboard is a counter melody she has written to accompany the guitar chording. Louise is also the lead singer for the band and her vocals are notable for their clear enunciation.

We want our lyrics to be heard because our songs tell stories. We often write about the rock and roll world using different scenarios as metaphors to describe more universal human experiences.
