Bio

Singer/song-writers Mark Johnson and Drew Cole have recently formed a partnership aptly named The Rain Monkeys, and the two have unearthed a fresh new approach to Pop Music that combines their experience crafting great songs. Over the years both artists have been signed to recording contracts and publishing deals (Mark with Vanguard Records and Bob Dylan’s Four Aces Music and Drew with UE3 Records/Sony Red and Gil Music) and have either performed, recorded, been covered by, and penned tunes with the likes of Dave Edmunds, The Roches, Willie Nile, The Smithereens, Rock & Roll legend Dion, and Grammy nominated saxophonist Kirk Whalum, just to name a few.

The two transplants from NYC, Mark from Greenwich Village where he wrote many of the songs that earned him the BMI award for best new songwriter of the year, and Drew from a neighborhood on the upper West Side where he absorbed the rich fast paced music of the street, now both reside in South Florida.

Using only antiquated recording equipment and playing all the instruments themselves, they’re producing fresh and original music that reflects the many music styles that the world has been use to hearing for decades, with one big difference, it’s modern music for Pop lovers chock full of strikingly original hooks and harmonies, and most of all, lots of fun.

Their writing process is simple, just two guys face to face, each with a guitar, and no idea what’s going to happen next. Combining all the best from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Soul, and R&B., The Rain Monkeys are turning out songs at a pace that would more than likely impress the late great John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney.
