The Randians

Carter Mitchell, the creative force behind The Randians, has been telling stories his whole life. Whether on screen, or through the pulse of the speakers, he has been determined to express himself as an artist. Who are the Randians? – the debut album whose title pays homage to author Ayn Rand and her philosophy, which in part inspired Carter to return to his music – is set for release June 18, 2013.

After several years where music had been placed on hold to concentrate on filmmaking, Carter turned his artistic pursuit back to his first love: music. He returned to his Louisiana roots in 2010 with an arsenal of songs and teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Brady Blade. Together, they created an album true to Carter’s artistic vision. Who are the Randians? is a lively blend of the jazz, classical, and rock-and-roll sounds of Carter’s childhood. The Randians’ debut album defies categorization. It embodies the mellow, relaxed rhythms of acoustic indie rock, but it packs a punch of New Orleans flare. Who are the Randians? delivers a mix of light-hearted musings on the power of infatuation and philosophical rumination on unrequited love and disappointment. The bright melodic current of the Louisiana brass is served alongside the haunting, dream-like tone of the guitar, each equally mesmerizing.

Who are the Randians? is scheduled for release on iTunes and Amazon June 18, 2013. There will be a two disc vinyl with digital download card inside, plus CDs and more to come. From there, The Randians will take on the road.
