"Local Entrepreneur and Rapper Authentic Discusses Upcoming Work"

by PeaceLove

I had the honor to sit and converse with one of Colorado’s heavyweights Authentic. We got a chance to chop it up, we touch on issues as big as the lack of unity between local artist and as small as Sunday nights football game. It’s clear that Authentic is looking to bring in the New Year on his 1′s and 2′s. Let’s take a brief look inside the interview.

CMB: Where did the name authentic derive from

A: At first I went by Solo, but as times changed I started going by Authentic because that’s who I am, and also I try my best to make authentic music.

CMB: When is the next Album dropping

A: My next album is dropping in 2014 it is entitled Trust Issues

CMB: So when you not busy recording how do you spend your time

A: When I’m not recording I’m spending time with my family. They inspire me, without them I would be reduced to nothing.

CMB: I know each track means a lot to you but which track do you feel is the your favorite

A: I put a lot of effort into all of the tracks but there is one that is pretty special it’s called Man in the Mirror, keep your ear open for that one. I gave a special guest featured on it as well. - Colorado Music Buzz

Bio

Ive always had a biography written in 3rd person, but who better to explain who I am and what I represent than myself?

I am a 29 year old hip hop artist and producer. I started producing and recording music back in 2003 and have been involved with the Colorado hip hop scene every sense. My desire to create music initially started as way to deal with anger and other emotions that I was unable to deal with in a healthy way. I made my first beat and recorded my first song a Dell laptop computer and a $10 head set microphone.

From the time I started making hip-hop music, until now, it would be an understatement to say I have grown tremendously as an artist and man. I make a conscience effort to represent the Colorado hip hop scene properly, and never be complacent with where I am. I strive to be the best person I can be in life and music, so every song I record should have an improved flow, better lyrics and better delivery then the day before or there is no reason to continue.

Over the last 10 years since I was 18, life has definitely thrown me some curve balls as it does to most people. I come from an average home, in an average neighborhood, but have over come some abnormal circumstances. I was blessed with the birth of my son at age 18, cursed with the death of his mother at 21, hexed with bad decisions from 21-23, and blessed with resiliency to bounce back from choices that cripple most men. Since I started making hip hop music back in 2003, I have been involved with the Colorado hip hop movement in many ways. I have worked with several other Colorado hip hop artists on collaborations, productions, shows and other events. I truly believe that Colorado hip hop music is better then it is perceived to be by most people, its just a matter of sorting out the fakers from the Authentics.

Music seems to be the one thing I cant escape regardless of the abuse it gives me. There is nothing else in my life I have ever let demand so much time and effort with such little return. If it wasnt for the mental relief, therapy. and support of my fans I would have quit making music long ago. It takes a lot of will power for me to continue doing Authentic when I truly believe majority of hip hop has become a joke. Colorado hip hop seems to always stay stagnate and I firmly because its our lack of unity as artists.

When you listen to my music there are 2 things you can expect every time and most importantly to me is being honest. I was born and raised here in Colorado, so making our local hip hop fans proud and excited that there is a real artists is important to me. I am unwilling to sacrifice my integrity for anyone or anything, so consistency is also expected when you listen to my music. I own and operate a successful business, which allows me the luxury of not making hip hop music that isnt true to my heart in order to try and survive. I chose to use the name Authentic, because I wanted one word that could define and shape the type of man I wanted to be in life and music and I believe I portray that everyday.
