Discography

“Bob Carty-Chillbilly. 2003 Drifter Records. From icy psychobilly confessions to cowboy love songs, Bob's honest vocals and East Kentucky attitude shine on this one man solo album. Strong stuff.Country Noire, Southern Gothic, or Bluesrock? All of the above! 4 Stars. ”

“Bob Carty Rain Down the Pain (self-released) Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Bob Carty’s “Rain Down the Pain” is one of the most eclectic albums I’ve heard in a long time. It begins with “My Trouble is Gone”—a venture into a Doors-like state of trip-rock. “Churchill’s Dogs” follows and turns to country for inspiration. The title track has some Native American drums and chants used with a telling respect for their often overlooked definition of pain. The album varies from countryesque ballads to the blues and back again. Carty is a storyteller of sorts, and he is not only a good lyric writer but one with an exceptional knack for writing songs that are strange. Strange, different and good. -Eric Turner

Bio

Performing singer/songwriter Bob Carty grew up in the coal camps of
Pike County, Kentucky listening to live bluegrass behind
the company store, The Doors on the radio and Porter
Waggoner on tv.
His musical dues were paid doing covers on bass
in an Elvis tribute band,
barnstorming accross the country with a circus and
fronting the seemingly cursed Johnson City, TN
powerbilly trio "The Cruel Brothers" before going solo
and acoustic from Myrtle Beach, S.C. to Detroit, MI.
armed only with a guitar and a fishbowl! Now rocking the blues with a tight hipster beat band!

Musically, he has been described as Leonard Cohen meets Tom Waits over a quart of Shine for a blues jam in a Hillbilly Goodtime House.
