Indie Week 2014 Finalists

"A set that can only be described as an adrenaline rush." - substructlive.com

"Their energy was undeniable." - razmatazmag.com

DLV are an Electro Rock band from Toronto. The five-song EP they've crafted in basements and armageddon-bunker jam spaces is dirty and underground, even as it aims for the stratosphere. Take it as proof that you can see the stars from a basement studio, even if you have to scrape grime off the one window.

The quartet formed in 2011 after songwriters Adam and Cole Blinov found themselves drawn to genres outside of their original bluegrass/folk inklings: hip hop's bravado, pop music's kingmaker hooks and the messy party vibes of rock and roll. They took those parts and shaped them into the best possible dancefloor-ready sum by melding the tools of modern dance production with rock songwriting. Dual vocalists Sasha Johnston and Cole layer the music with siren harmonies, grit, and attitude, while the spins and rhymes of DJDC add movement and texture to every track. Adam, masterminding the backing tracks and compositions, and brings infectious energy when he's crushing it with guitar, synth and sampler.

With just an EP to their name, they pull no punches about their ambitions. "Indie music in Canada is lacking in heroes," says Adam. "The underground are afraid of stepping into the spotlight - being entertainers, champions and leaders. DLV want to be those champions."

Their songs are soaked in this sentiment; from the opening guitar chunks in 'Heels Up' to the epic late night sonics of 'I'll Wait' they mix sex, grime, synths and beats into a brazen dance-floor upheaval. DLV will shake your ass and break your heart at the same time.
