Hip-Hop FemCee and self-proclaimed Raptivationist, “The Real Jay Mills” released her latest project “Winter Sadness” PoetReMixtape Vol. IV.
“Winter has always been my time of reflection about the past, my present and my future. I've been through a lot this year, so I already had a story in mind that I wanted the project to tell. I was blessed to work with some amazing producers and singers to bring this soundtrack to life,” says Mills about the project.

Mills goes on to say that Winter Sadness shows the emotional side of her art, and exhibits her maturity as a woman and as an artist. “Summer Madness was a fun collection of HOT bars. Winter Sadness is a pre-meditated album of a mixtape.”

In a previous post, I raved about the beautiful and unbelievably talented Jay Mills (@TheRealJayMills) and how I couldn’t wait to work with her. No sooner than I posted it, I received an email from Jay asking if I would bless a couple of tracks for her project “Winter Sadness”. Let’s just say she didn’t have to beg me. I was honored and humbled and immediately jumped on the Mills train. The result: two amazing records–both produced by the amazing Marcus G (@Slashwaterboy)—”Get Like Me”, an anthem of sorts and “It’s Only Love”, a tale of a broken heart. I strongly urge all of you to download the ENTIRE project though…You may do so right HERE. If you’re an avid hip hop fan, a spoken word enthusiast, or just an overall music lover, this work of art is a must-have. This is a loaded post because I have a lot of goodies for you from The Real Jay Mills. She is another lady lyricist who recently got my attention. She’s part of a young crop of female rappers from the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) area who have been making a lot of noise lately (shouts to RA The MC). Her latest project is her Winter Sadness mixtape, which is available for download after the jump, along with more gems from Jay including her version of Kanye’s “Devil In A New Dress.”
