Biography

Originating from Lewisham South East London ‘The Real Mr Smith’ is a talented artist who is not only a vocalist but also known for his great production and song writing skills. His style is described as being electro-indie and alternative.

Mr Smith started out at a young age making beats in his room on his laptop; the self taught producer/songwriter came up with the name ‘The Real Mr Smith’ as a way of avoiding his sound becoming Pigeon-holed.

As Mr Smith’s sound varies from Electro-Indie to various other genres, like his music he wanted to come up with a name that could not be categorised. ‘Mr Smith’ is a highly popular name that could belong to anyone of any race, culture or age; therefore it is a name that can be stretched across a wider audience. It is a way of presenting to the world who he is and what he is about.

Now 24 years of age, The Real Mr Smith was recently signed to Coda Music booking agency, who represent other renowned UK artists such as ‘Chipmunk’, ‘Calvin Harris’, and ‘Mr Hudson’ just to name a few, and currently busy in the Studio working on his self-produced début album due for release in the summer of 2010, featuring co label artist SeeJay100; all in the whilst working on his own projects; Mr Smith is also working with 'Kelly Marie Smith' ex lead singer from the ‘Shape Shifters’, writing and producing material for her project. The year ahead is set to be busy and successful for Mr Smith, who also features on co label artist SeeJay100's track ‘I Can’t Help It’ due for release in the spring of 2010.

Mr Smith has had additional success working alongside renowned artists in the UK mainstream such as ‘Chipmunk’, ‘Tinchy Stryder’ and ‘Doneo. His previous track ‘This Is My Jam’ can be found on YouTube the quirky video was set in a realistic mode going around the streets and other public places with members of the general public listening to the song through headphones whilst dancing and singing along. The video has created quite a buzz and has generated interest from people as far as Gambia, and including troops from the British army wanting to get involved and is becoming somewhat of a trademark promotion for The Real Mr Smith.

Rob Scott of club Mo, Clyro Court, Liquid Lounge and On the River Severn says ‘this is my
Jam’ is “A wicked male vocalised pop release with an urban influence. This is a pop tune that has a great crossover appeal to a wide range of music fans and as such deserves plenty of air time”

In Early 2009 Mr Smith was one of the supporting acts for the British comedian ‘Slim’ on his UK sell-out tour ‘I Am Slim.’ His talent also impressed a reputable Norwegian promoter who invited Mr Smith along with co label artist SeeJay100 to Norway to perform a five-date tour around the country. Plans are currently under-way for a tour in Sweden, as a continuation of his European promotion.

Inspired by superstar artists and entertainers such as ‘Michael Jackson’ and ‘Prince’, as well as bands such as ‘N.E.R.D’ and ‘Kings of Leon’, Mr Smith mainly draws huge inspiration for his music from everyday people and life itself. In the future The Real Mr Smith plans to make a huge impact in the UK mainstream market as well as Europe and the USA, with his own music but also aspires to having his own record label to release his own music as well as other cutting edge artists.
“I would describe my sound as Authentic and inspirational because what I put in is from personal experience and I think that it reflects in my music. My tracks are about enduring and getting to wherever you want to be in life. ”
