Biography

"We know the truth, not only by the reason, but also
by the heart." -- Pascal

Perhaps no one could exemplify this sentiment more than Hamilton-bred quintet The Reason. Drawn together in early 2003 by their love of music and the impetus to forge their own musical path, Adam White (vocals), James Nelan (guitar), Jeremy Widerman (guitar), Ronson (bass) and Cam Bordignon (drums), hit the ground running, securing a loyal fanbase by rocking as many venues as possible with their aggressive live-show.

In 2004, the band released debut album "Ravenna" (Smallman Records) establishing themselves as a pop/punk leaning hardcore troupe, catching the attention of audiences and music critics across Canada.

In 2006, the band began recording their sophomore album "Things Couldn't Be Better" (Smallman / Warner) with Juno-award winning producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace), who jumped on the project after hearing early demos and seeing the band perform at the Molson Amphitheatre with Billy Talent and Alexisonfire. Brown helped them hone their focus and explore a more simplified approach to integrating counterpoint guitar lines, catchy keyboard musings, driving backbeats with heaps of vocal pop melody. Heralded as "an album of undeniably captivating songs" upon its release in March 2007, the resulting body of work truly reflected the diverse musical influences each member brought to the table, and the uncompromising dedication to create enduring, heartfelt music.

This Is Just the Beginning

Written By: The Reason

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
I’ve been patiently waiting
I can’t think of the words to say
And it’s getting frustrating
This is honestly killing me
I’ve been meaning to ask you
But my awkward tongue gets in the way
There’s a thousand things I want to say
So break some pieces off for me
I can only wait until the end
Go break some pieces off for me
Baby, this is just the beginning
You’ve been watching me waiting
I know you know just what to say
And I’m yours for the taking
Conversation could make my day
But the one complication is your tongue just makes no sense to me
Oh, when we get to the bottom of this
You know I’ll wait forever for this
Trust me
We burn ourselves alive!
I can only wait until when we get to the bottom of this
Go break some pieces off for me
Baby, this is just the beginning

We're So Beyond This

Written By: The Reason

WE’RE SO BEYOND THIS
All I want is here in my arms tonight
It’s killing me
Girl, let me make it right
What you need is more out of me tonight
‘Cause we’re so beyond this, I need to feel your trust
So we can be honest, you’ve got to give me this much
Honestly, I won’t get to sleep tonight
It’s killing me
Boy, can’t we make this right?
All I need is here in my arms tonight
‘Cause we’re so beyond this, I need to feel your trust
So we can be honest, you’ve got to give me this much
‘Cause we’re so beyond this, I’ve got to get it through
If you can be honest, I can be honest with you
We’ve got to

All I Ever Wanted

Written By: The Reason

ALL I EVER WANTED
With this mouth of mine
I can take my time
It could be so right
But it could take all night
So take this mouth of mine
And fix your gaze inside
This could change your mind
This could change your life
With my back against the wall
I’m loving it all, loving it all
It’s all I ever wanted
And I’m getting it all, getting it all
With my back against the wall
Know this is all I ever wanted
And I’m getting it all, getting it all
With this mouth of mine
As your faithful guide
If you let me take my time
I will make it so right
We had the voice and the message all along
I’m not scared
This is the voice and the message
