The musicians in rock outfit The Rebel Prospects are no fools - when history handed them a lesson, they took it.

"Less is more, man," said frontman Everett Powers. "Less has always been more. The Beatles knew it, that's why they did it - but you can also do it with a really f**king solid lick, and you can do it with a hard riff and some really good vocals you can get behind and pump your fist in the air about."

That pretty much sums up the Halifax rockers, who pride themselves on delivering their own brand of hard-hitting rock 'n' roll, dubbed "dead ahead rock."

"It's just music that kind of makes you want to drive fast when you're in your car and punch the wheel a little bit, you know," Powers said when we caught up with the band from home in Halifax last week.

"We're just a little bit faster tempo, trying to put out as much energy as possible - but we're not afraid to write a good rock ballad, for sure."

The group is releasing its debut effort, Unkindness, in November. The five-track EP was recorded in Halifax at CodaPop Studio. Everett said it will be well worth the wait, and a long time coming for The Rebel Prospects. Kross and I have been "picking and grinning" since 2010.
"It'll be something to talk about, that's what we're hoping for," he said of the EP. - HERE (magazine)- Fredericton

"ROCK ‘N ROLL REBELS AT MICHAEL’S"

...Everett Powers to the audience: “Cheers fuckers!”Clear from the outset that The Rebel Prospects were not simply prospective rebels, they were indeed rebels, and they had a cause: to rock the night away with heavy riffs, dirty bass, sizzling solos, pounding drums, and roaring vocals.

TRP, from start to finish, was tight and right on the money. Front man and rhythm guitarist, Everett Powers, pumped the 200 plus crowd up with sheer personality. Reminiscent of Jim Morrison in manner, with a voice like Sully Erna, Powers raced around the bar, rocking his wireless flying V and tearing up the scene with a great house-of-blues-meets-metal vibe. Powers, in all his eccentricities, stole the show. Not to be outdone though, lead guitarist and backup vocals, Ryan “Kross” Veinotte wailed away and managed some slide play while giving the crowd what they so desperately deserved. A lot of RnR attitude.

Not afraid to slow down the groove from their heavy hitters, we could see the vulnerability underneath the rocking exterior, without losing a hint of brilliance. Whether hammering originals or cool Clutch covers, TRP rocks them all with a degree of professional showmanship and musicality.

Bio

The Rebel Prospects are a duo from Halifax, N.S. Canada. A
band with a must-hear modern take on hard rock, dubbed 'Dead Ahead Rock'. TRP
hails from the red shores of PEI and the backwoods of N.S. Banding together
organically to create a unique sound layered with Hard Southern Rock riffs and
90’s Alt tones. Long story short, The Rebel Prospects sound like, what it feels
like; to drive fast!

In 2010 the band officially was founded and Kross and
Everett gave birth to ‘The Rebel Prospects’ aka ‘TRP’. The following years TRP
performed throughout Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces. With a couple of demos
in their back pocket, they strutted into CodaPop Studios to record their Debut
EP ‘Unkindness’ (Nov. 2014). From ‘Unkindness’ released the single “Low Down &
Dirty” with a featured Music Video.

Those following years were spent honing and toning on stage
and in studio. During rehearsals, recording and touring the boys built a
massive catalogue of originals and followed up their debut by releasing their
2nd EP ‘Murder’ (Dec. 2017). From ‘Murder’ released the single “When the Drugs
Went Bad”

Inspired by the listener’s reactions, TRP set their sights
on a full length LP under the production and musicianship of Producer, Jon
Epworth. Together they utilized Joel Plaskett’s 'New Scotland Yard Studio' to
its full potential. Due to the fact TRP were inspired by the people. Their fan
base received an Indie opportunity to experience the unreleased LP and cast
their vote for their favorite 2 songs! Longer story shorter, the songs have
been chosen by the people for the people!
