Redbird Fever

Redbird Fever

BandRockPop

Redbird Fever is an upbeat rock band with looped, percussive guitar playing offset by spiraling violin melodies. Coed vocals sing about love with varying degrees of sincerity. The band focuses on the audience during live shows, involving them in the performance.

Biography

Redbird Fever is lush indie rock, a three piece band with dual vocalists, violin, drums, and guitar. Male and female vocals overlap and rise over angular, looping guitar hooks with spiraling violin melodies. Redbird sounds like three people playing multiple instruments well and singing about love with various degrees of sincerity. Our EP Come Away From Your Home was released August 2009 independently.

"Redbird Fever combines quirky pop sensibilities with a healthy experimental vibe. Their songs are short and snappy and remarkably unpretentious." --Ampeater Music

The live show is an energetic, professional set with solid crowd interaction. By limiting shows to once per month, we’re able to marshal regular fans to gigs consistently.

Lyrics

It's a Metaphor, Dear!

Written By: The Redbird Fever

I think that I would like to live in her heart
It may sound stupid but I'd have to bring both my cats
Maybe it'd be better if I were a red blood cell
Flow through her aorta
and down through her left ventricle

I treat her right, that's all

What if we were sparrows?
Or swallows or two of a kind
I could borrow all your feathers
and you could fly with mine

I treat her right, that's all

Modern Satellites

Written By: The Redbird Fever

i'm so very anxious
and it's 4 am
out there wrapped in blankets

just thinking about systems
and how they're not really real
superimpositions on an otherwise ordinary thing

brave enough to shed my skin
sugar cane and motor cars
i am gone again
oh no i swallowed all my intuition
do not say it's going to be ok

Aspirin

Written By: The Redbird Fever

i need two things
at my bedside
just the aspirin
and a dull knife

i crush the little pills but i still can't sleep at night

just after midnight
i find your old heels
they're too big for me
but i put 'em on anyway

and I dance dance to the heat heat

i'm cut off my ears
sew hooks into my eyes
so i can sleep
so i can sleep tonight

oh let's play pretend
i'll be a fireman
but you play the monster
keep starting fires

and I dance dance to the heat heat

i'm cut off my ears
sew hooks into my eyes
so i can sleep
so i can sleep tonight

Would That Be Alright

Written By: The Redbird Fever

I think I want to
ride on a plane with you
it could go down in flames and you
you'd be alright

so lets have children
we'll raise them different
than anyone else
and if we stay together
to watch the world go to hell

would that be alright

so I think i want to ride on a plane with you
it could go down in flames and you
you'd be alright

We intersperse our songs with audience interaction, such as having members come on stage to play tambourine solos, filming the audience while singing a happy birthday to a band members friend or family member, and doing small call & response parts in songs.
