Bio

Like label mates The Coral, The Red Suns hail from the Wirral peninsula and make the same train journey into Liverpool everyday through the Mersey Tunnel for rehearsals. However, once the door to the rehearsal room is closed, the amps are plugged in and the lights are turned down, this is where the similarities between the two bands cease to exist.

The Red Suns sprang to life in 2008. Their sound is big and confident, living somewhere between the dark and atmospheric sound of early Echo and The Bunnymen and the uplifting world of Canadian art rockers Arcade Fire. In other words, the band’s distinctive sound is owed more to an influence from the attentive and poetic lyrics of Morrissey rather than the more retro Beatles influence typically found in amongst the lineage of Liverpool bands.

Despite only having a limited live profile, with just a handful of gigs under their belt, the band very quickly attracted the attention of one of the very high profile, well respected artists with whom they claim influenced their very sound in the first place. Not long after uploading their first 3 track demo onto Myspace, Arcade Fire were quick to accept the band by taking them under their metaphorical “Myspace Wing” and welcomed them into the fold by giving them a place nestled comfortably in amongst their “Top Friends” on their own official page. With high praise and recognition from an artist achieving success of that level, it’s easy to appreciate that The Red Suns really do have something special. This in turn also makes it clear and easy to understand why Deltasonic Records were so eager to snap up the band so quickly and are so enthusiastic about what the band are set to achieve in the world of music.

Deltasonic Records, on behalf of The Red Suns, are about to complete a deal with Cooperative Music who are the marketing and distribution power house behind Fleet Foxes, Bloc Party, The Black Keys, Phoenix, Interpol and many more. Vincent and Jason, MD and Head of Marketing respectively at Co-Op, were both so blown away by the band’s demo that they offered a deal on the spot without even having met the boys in person!
