Bio

The Refugee was born in New York City, he moved to Sacramento, CA shortly afterwards.
He developed a taste for hip hop at a young age, and therefore developed a taste for trouble. To reach out for acceptance he started hanging out with the wrong crowd, although his early faith in Jesus kept him away from giving in to the peer pressure. The Refugee fell into depression, thinking that the church couldn't understand his love for hip hop and hip hop culture, and that hip hop couldn't understand his love for Jesus.
But his life changed when he walked into a record store and caught a glimpse of a certain CD. "Holy Hip Hop Volume 2" was the title, and he purchased it immediately. He was suddenly immersed in a world of Gospel Rap, some of his early favorites including T-Bone, KJ-52, Da T.R.U.T.H., Smooth, Gospel Gangstaz, and Lecrae.
Inspired by these artists, The Refugee started writing his own tracks, and eventually got around to recording them on a home mic. At his third show, The Refugee joined up with Soul Hustle Ministries, a ministry team of artists. They now rock stages all across Sacramento and beyond, while spreading the Gospel of Jesus.
