Bio

The Regs syncopated, guitar-forward style of rock and roll makes its home in historic Brooklyn, known for its fresh pierogis, pizza, and (at least historically) great baseball.

The Regs grew up together in a small seaside town outside New York City. Ken Watson (21), Daniel Murphy (21), Nicky Cirillo (21), and Jon Molina (19) attended the same beat local high school and crappy parties in their formative years. Dan started playing guitar at age eight and within several years had forced his impressionable sidekick Nicky to learn bass. The duo struggled with various band line-ups until June of 2002, when they realized they had a musical kinship with former classmate and pal Kenneth (vocals). Ken in turn brought Jon, who was initially accepted by the band for his taste in footwear, but eventually for his native skill on the drums.

For the past five months, The Regs have played out regularly in and around NYC at venues including Luna Lounge, The Knitting Factory, Arlene Grocery, Continental, Lit, Sin-e, NYU, Williamsburg Publik House, and CBGB. Influences include: Beatles, the Clash, Elvis Costello, Nirvana, Jimmy Cliff, and fellow Long Islander Lou Reed. Comparisons are dangerous and often misleading; however, The Regs manage to overcome them and create what is insideĀ…nothing but sexual, sweaty, bare-assed rock and roll.
