The Reigning Toads

Melodic progressive rock swirls around metal and punk riffery while drawing from the improvisational hey day of the likes of Cream and Black Sabbath thickening the melting pot of funk and blues. The Reigning Toads stir this diverse mixture with a vigor and ferocity that is evident through out their live performances. An instrumental trio powered by youth, determination and talent blending various genres into irresistible new forms.

Hailing from Northeastern Pennsylvania, The Reigning Toads have been playing together since the winter of 2004 and have a collective experience of over 30 years. Bob Gatto, on percussion, lays down the rhythmic foundation for the band drawing from influences that range from Opera to Zappa. Matt Mang, a graduate of the Marywood University music program, is trained in classical music and has performed in various jazz and rock groups in the area. His bass playing compliments Gatto's complex rhythms, giving The Reigning Toads their funky, progressive sound. Guitar player, Dave Campbell, creates his bluesy textures and metal rhythms over this foundation, adding just the right energy and soul to the mixture.

Cutting their teeth over the last year in the ever evolving Northeastern Pennsylvania music scene, The Reigning Toads have gained the respect of their musical peers by playing open mic nights, local bars, and larger entertainment events. With every exposure and opportunity, The Reigning Toads are gaining new fans and are rising in the ranks as one of the top live bands in the area. Their debut recording, scheduled for release in the spring of 2005, will only increase the buzz.
