In today’s music business, the industry and press alike are always looking for the easiest and most convenient way to categorize artists like, Adult Alternative, Indie, Indie Pop, Folk Pop, etc. Based solely on The Reserves most recent release Life, they should be firmly placed in the “Captivating Stories, Vivid Imagery, Impeccable Storytelling and Powerful Musical Performance” category. The band balances the constant cycle of songwriting, recording and performing to continually grow their legion of loyal fans and is always introducing the new song or the revamped classic. The band has strived to keep this integrity in all that that they do, not just within the creative process but the connection that thy have with the audience. The band often wears the tag “Likeable songs from likeable guys.”
Winter 2009 brought The Reserves second full-length release entitled Life. Three songs from Life caught the attention of ESPN producers to be prominently featured in the recent E:60 expose entitled “Blindside.” The Reserves music can also be heard regularly on the CNN program "John King, USA". In addition to their ESPN and CNN TV play, the Reserves have also been heard on XM Satellite Radio and WTMD, Baltimore with live studio performances on Fox 45 News, Baltimore, and also on Z104 Washington, DC. They have 3 WAMMY nominations from the Washington Area Music Association and were identified by On Tap Magazine as an “artist that should be on your radar, Calendar and iPod.”
Showcasing the honest and insightful vocals of Dave Greksouk, backed by the band’s sometimes subtle sometimes powerful layering of guitars, piano, organ, bass, and drums, The Reserves have found a way to blend the pop hooks of bands like The Counting Crows, The Fray and One Republic, with the unique classic driving arrangements of acts like U2 and The Beatles. Life Producer Ted Comerford (Army of Me, Zox, Virginia Coalition) vowed to capture the varied essence of the band in the studio. From the powerhouse first track “Ghost Writer” to the title track, to the sweet and heartfelt “Room for Two”, Comerford was able to produce a fluid and smooth release. The band worked with mixer Micah Wilshire (Local H, Pat McGee Band, Ross Copperman) to wrap-up Life for its winter 2009 release.
The Reserves have played to packed houses at; The 8x10 Club in Baltimore, Arlene’s Grocery and the Lions Den in NYC, Arlington VA’s Iota Club and Café, The 9:30 Club, The Black Cat and The Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington D.C. and large festivals and outdoor shows up and down the east coast. The band is scheduled to perform a mini tour of the US east coast in the spring and early summer of 2011.
