"Learning About Loathing"

Beautiful throughout; satie like piano and wistful grave side meditations... perfect! - Mojo

"Farewell, My Lovely"

gritty but glowing. The slow, quiet songs are usefully interrupted by moments of electric guitar mayhem, but nothing is allowed to get in the way of Morrison’s addictive voice.

* * * * - The Sunday Times

"Farewell, My Lovely"

Tremendous. From Pastoral Folk to alt. country wig out... an exquisite lament which neither Slaid Cleaves not Richard Thompson would disdain

* * * * - Uncut

"Farewell, My Lovely"

not a million miles away from Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy…thrilling. High quality Americana from the wild West Country.

"Farewell, My Lovely"

this tangibly focused, warming and reclusive record seems like Blighty's answer to Bon Iver

* * * * - Mojo

"Learning About Loathing"

"Raw and vital" - Wire Magazine

"Learnign About Loathing"

Morrison piles brave, cinematic folk music that is as heartfelt as it is huggable - PlanB

"Learnign About Loathing"

It takes puritan blisters and serious self-control to maintain this sort of melodic hush - Pitchfork Media

"Learnign About Loathing"

It's the overall sincerity and confidence that make it a worthy listen. - FutureMusic Magazine

"Learnign About Loathing"

Recalls that of Nick Drake, Elliot Smith and Nick Cave and like the aforementioned contains great songs treated exquisitely by accomplished artists. the debut release from both the band and their label, drift collective, are names to watch out for. - Rough Trade Shops

Bio

2010 ended on a real high for us, releasing our second album to great critical appraise and touring Europe in support of John Hiatt, alongside Tame Impala and Field Music, at The Rolling Stone Weekender in Germany plus headline dates across Spain.

We were delighted to be asked to showcase at SXSW 2011 and Canada Music Week and we're starting to book in summer festivals with Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots and Tanned Tin (Spain) already confirmed.

Joined now by Alex Neilson of Trembling Bells on Drums, we're getting ready to take 2011 by the horns!

****************************************

We recorded our debut LP in one day... in a church, late autumn 2005. It was cold as hell.

We have been running a record shop for 12 years, so we figured it can't be too hard to just release a record?! We started Drift Records (named after our shop) and amazingly it worked! The debut album came out to high critical praise and sold out 2000 hand wax sealed copies. We hit the road and played in as many churches as we could... they always sound the best. Europe has been kind, The UK has been rough... We all returned to Devon, set up for a couple of days in the summer at the family farm and recorded or second LP 'Farewell, My Lovely".

Recorded on an old tape machine, it's half way between Americana, and proper UK Folk... Anglicana?! - The magnificent Loose Records asked to release it, we gladly said yes! So we now share roster with Blanche, The Handsome Family, The Felice Brothers and The Due & The King to name but a few of their gems.

The album received a blanket high response, scoring 4 stars and above in almost every major UK publication and paper. The album sold out almost instantly and we are currently discussing a re-press.

We continue to tour with festivals in the UK and Europe throughout 2010. We are working on the third album now and expect to have it recorded before we kick off the summer.
