The Rhythm Fools are among Chicagoland's most entertaining club & festival bands. Mixing their brand of infectious dance rhythms, smokin’ guitars, blazin’ horns, and a whole lotta soul, The Rhythm Fools appeal to any audience. Be it rockin’ to the classics or bumpin’ to the funk, this talented band of Fools will have the crowd up & shakin’ with a hip song list that’ll let the good times roll.
Based in Chicago, The Fools have been playing the club and festival circuits for nearly 20 years. Founded by drummer John LaFave, vocalist Jeff Sismelich, and horn players Russ Laube & Steve Leyerle, The Fools were regulars at P.J. Flaherty’s, the premiere South Side music room in the late 80’s and early 90’s. With the addition of keyboardist Jim Gaynor, bassist Tom Strolia, and lead guitarist Saul Gylys, The Fools continue to play local bars throughout the city and suburbs.
Over the years, the Fools have played dozens of festivals from Mundelein to Lemont, and all points in between. Festivals like Oak Lawn Family Days, A Taste of Lincolnwood, A Taste of Lombard, Plainfield Fest, and for 3 years running, Oak Lawn’s Fall On The Green. The Rhythm Fools have also opened shows for national acts like War, Charlie Daniels, Huey Lewis, The Cryan’ Shames and Tommy James. In 2006, the band kicked off the Lisle Balloon Festival opening for Smash Mouth.
With The Fools, the emphasis is always on FUN! A good time is always guaranteed when the band hits the stage. An “anything can happen” attitude, make the Fools a group that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
