Bio

Their music is a mixture of alternative rock, heavy, groove-bassed rock, with bluesy riffs and melodies. With influences by Rage Against the Machine, Auidioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rosso (Japanese), Cafe Takuba (Mexico), Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jimi Hendrix.
What makes them so unique is their back ground. All members, although by blood are Japanese, have had thier influneces from different genres and cultures. While the Vocalist, Tomomi Hiroishi, performed as a First Violinist in the Yuriko Kuronuma String Quartet as in his youth and grew up to join and lead many cover bands and original bands, Aztec Samurai and Demolition Tactics just to name a few, as their singer and guitarist, the Guitarist, Kota Fujii, played at many venues with his funk rock trio band The Nutty Heads with the bassist Daisuke Wakabayashi. The Drummer, Sohei Oyama, spent most of his time devoted to the traditional Japanese Drum "Wadaiko" and at the same time he was a member of a punk-rock cover band.
They come to meet in the city of Boston where they form the band The Ricecookes in 2003. Since then they have been performing in and around Boston area and recently in NYC at the Knitting Factory, and have also entered contests were they end up 2nd place in the semifinals.
