Bio

The Rifle & The Writer is a Canadian Country music duo comprised of siblings Rebekka Paige and Colby Latocha. They've been performing together in various projects for the past 11 years. Rebekka previously having small success on Canadian Country music charts as a solo artist with her self-titled debut album, released in 2008. As the Rebekka Paige Band, despite their young age, her band toured rather extensively throughout Ontario opening for major Canadian acts including Terri Clark, Emerson Drive, Prairie Oyster, and Deric Ruttan, among others.

In the years following, Rebekka and Colby continued to focus on their music, reforming as a duo, and like many young Country artists, their eyes eventually shifted to Nashville, TN. There, they recorded a debut EP for their new project, which unfortunately was never fully released.

Without any music to promote after their failed debut, soon arenas and major festivals turned into bars, and original music into 3 hour sets of drunken standards. Over the next 5 years they continued to perform smaller shows and set money aside with hopes to once again record original music, though realizing they may have failed their only shot.

In early 2015, they decided it was time to give their dream a second chance. With the aim of creating meaningful Country music, out of the ashes, The Rifle & The Writer was born.

As the summer of 2015 came to an end, their ambitions once again shifted towards Nashville, TN. They decided they needed to finish what they had once sought out to do and complete the album there. They enlisted the help of an old friend, who had worked with them on their first EP, Grammy award winning audio engineer Kyle Ginther, and together, they finished recording their debut album at Loud Studios in January 2016.

In September 2016, they released their second single off the upcoming record titled "Gig & Colour". With this release, CBC Country/SiriusXM Canada classified the band as an "emerging artist", granting them coast to coast rotation in Canada. To date, nearly 20 other radio stations across the country have either featured or added the song to rotation. A music video for the track was released shortly thereafter.

Their debut album, Flowers of Chance, reflects on the hardest days of their lives caused by the fallout of failed musical pursuits. Dealing with regret, failed relationships, and second chances, it is an insight into the minds of two struggling musicians, and what it takes to reach ones goals. The album was released on March 20, 2017.
