Bio

The Ringo Alcoa Band gets its name from an inside joke among founding member, Zac Scott and one of his friends. Upon returning from outer space via Benton, AR the two men thought that it would be fun to be Beatles’ with Benton street signs for last names. Ringo Alcoa was mentioned and Zac thought it would be a good name for a band.

The current line up formed when Zac and Derek Faires met each other in Concert Choir while pursuing their music degrees. After meeting and agreeing upon many musical concepts, the two began jamming on original music. After a few months of writing material, the two decided to move into a house together in order to afford a better practice space to include drums. After playing a few shows in the Fayetteville and Little Rock areas it was clear that the group desperately needed a drummer. The landlord of the new house introduced the guys to Grant Parsons. The duo became a trio, and has been practicing for almost a year while cutting their teeth on local shows attained through “word of mouth, street credibility, and begging.”

Through the process of playing live shows and practice, the band has honed their skills in both playing well and stage presence. Their sound has also been established as a hard rock sound, but the music is also an erratic blend of all genres that may include punk, funk, blues, R & B, southern rock/country, and even the occasional hip hop.

Zac Scott is lead vocalist and guitar player from Smackover, AR. He began writing songs at the age of 18 hoping to form a band that would play them. He formed the Ringo Alcoa Band in 2004 but the members disbanded after 6 months due to an involuntary relocation by Uncle Sam. Upon returning from his overseas tour, Zac reformed the band after meeting Derek Faires.

Derek Faires, bass player/harmony vocals, is a native of Fayetteville, AR. After moving to North Carolina in the summer of 1996, he was on the drum line for Athens Drive High School for two years only to later become a high school dropout. He came back to Fayetteville to find his roots, got his GED, and now attends college. Derek has achieved local fame being the drummer in bands such as “Hustles the Hall” and “Truefolk.” He is also known for having been fired from every job he has ever had.

Grant Parsons is the drummer. He too has roots in NW Arkansas, but calls Atlanta, GA home. He was a member of the drum line throughout high school, played keyboards and drums for local bands in the Atlanta area, and has never been fired from a job. Grant currently attends the University of Arkansas.
