Though I've yet to see them live, I've been hearing good things about The Ripperz since they began playing around town a couple years ago. Now I know why. Like early Marah or Elliott Brood (without the banjo and the concept records), the local trio brings bear chested passion to the table on absolutely every song, often breaking down into full-throated singalongs. The hooky 'Fly' is the song Kick FM's been playing a lot, but for my money 'Elephant's Blues' is less obvious and thus even better, while cuts such as the brooding 'On My Way' or revved-up-rocker 'The Get Go' offers glimpses at the breadth and depth of the band's potential.

The Ripperz play rock 'n' roll. They love to play everywhere and often. In the spring of 2008 they released their self-titled debut album. It is 13 tracks of pure rock 'n' roll. They will be touring across Canada this fall in support of the record.
