Bio

In a world dominated by materialistic pursuits and personal gain, folkrock 'n' blues band ''The Rising Lotus'' offer a very fresh alternative. Debra and Daniel Gibson, began songwriting together after a desire to create music with depth and greater meaning. They have embraced music to reach out to others in order to inspire loving-kindness and compassion toward all, and often to probe the inner workings of our mind. Their songs clearly reflect the spiritual foundation and life experiences of lead singer/songwriter, Debra Gibson.
The live performances of The Rising Lotus stretch across a wide spectrum of captivated listeners, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts and minds. They deliver music that is soul-stirring, infectious and energetic in each melodic note.
Having recently been awarded a grant from ARTS SA to promote their music, The Rising Lotus are stretching their musical wings and currently working on their much anticipated debut album with their newly formed band (due for release early 2011). Just as the lotus rises above its muddy waters to reveal its inner beauty, this album will serve as a timely reminder to audiences that they too can rise above their own difficulties to discover their greatest potential.
