Bio

The Rising Suns were founded on 2007 in Washington, D.C. consisting of, Khafre Zimmerman, 21 on Vocals, Jacob R. Fitzhugh, 22 on Lead and Rhythm Guitar and Vance Lewis, 21 on Percussion's, their drummer and singer hailing from Philadelphia and guitarist from Boston. The three artist came together at Howard University during their sophomore year; drummer, Vance Lewis met Khafre Zimmerman vocalist and decided to form a band. Guitarist, Jacob R. Fitzhugh joined The Rising Suns during their junior year at Howard University. The Rising Suns have played at events and venues such as, Amateur night at The Apollo, Howard University Homecoming, The Rock N’ Roll Hotel, The Velvet Lounge, Boston University etc.

The band truly brings a ground shaking idea and style to the music scene, combining strong genre’s such as, hip-hop, rock n’ roll and others. Khafre is truly a new breed of vocalist being able to seamlessly switch from singer to rapper and vice versa similar to Gym Class Heroes, front man Travis McCoy. The guitarist and drummer are also nothing short of extraordinary, bringing about music that one day may need its own genre, with smooth drum solos taking you back to a time of Parliament and Tower of Power and guitar licks that run away from traditional progressions that have been rehashed like, “10 new ways to get those abs you’ve always dreamed of!” But what sets this band apart from their competition and predecessors that always seems to become too much rock or too much hip-hop is that The Rising Suns do it exactly the way everyone has been wishing someone would. The Rising Suns are band with immeasurable potential and in the words of many fans, “I knew you guys were good but you guys are amazing!”
