Bio

The Rivalry is a high-energy, aggressive-melodic rock group. The music draws from various influences, from neo-punk (Refused, The Bronx) to rhythmically-savvy latin-rock grooves and choppy odd-time signatures (At The Drive In, Deftones, The Mars Volta) with extremely catchy vocal and guitar melodies to top it all off. The Rivalry delivers a no-nonsense live show, in which the band stops playing only a couple times throughout the set, with every band member singing at some point.

The Rivalry formed in late 2005 in the suburbs of Long Island, NY. The band quickly got the attention of producer Mike Cosgrove (drummer for Alien Ant Farm) and recorded "Break The Silence," featuring 5 of the band's first songs and demos. The band quickly hit the road with Alien Ant Farm in Fall 2005. For 2 1/2 months, the band played some of the finest clubs in the U.S. including the House Of Blues in Cleveland, OH and Anaheim, CA as well as the Key Club in Los Angeles. Shortly after finishing the tour, the band started working on a full-length record, which later became titled "Emergency Broadcast." Cosgrove produced the record, and Chad Sexton of 311 mixed. The record will be available on the iTunes Music Store in mid-February 2007 and is being independently released.
