Feeling a bit camera shy

The Rivington Project was born in on New York's Lower East Side in 2004, when Brooke Bryant, a classically-trained singer and songwriter from Enid, Oklahoma, met Fran Cathcart, a Grammy Award-winning producer and the owner of East Side Sound. Brooke had recently graduated from Wellesley College and moved to New York to begin a Ph. D. program in music, where she sang classical music professionally and founded a Baroque music ensemble.

Brooke and Fran began performing as the Rivington Project with percussionist R and Y in 2006, and continue to pack the house at New York hotspots like Sin-é, the Knitting Factory, Pianos, Trash Bar and Fontanas. Live shows are a catharsis via razor sharp guitar riffs, rhythmic variation and searing vocal lines.

The Rivington Project's music is riff-driven rock with powerful vocals, addressing the struggle to navigate adulthood in post-9/11 New York. Their music has been compared to the Smashing Pumpkins, Blondie and Queens of the Stone Age.

The group is currently recordings its debut EP.
