"Picks"

In the tradition of the Smothers Brothers, the Blues Brothers and Tenacious D, musical comedy duo Rob Gorden and Mark Douglas (no relation) present their ongoing act The Rob and Mark Show on Thurs. Jan. 30. Their manic, semi-regular performances at the Gin Mill have been an underground-comedy highlight of the Upper West Side's bar district. Masters of impressions, two-peice melody, potty humor and general insanity, Rob and Mark's previous Shows have featured jabs at aging 80s rockers, Irish folk singers and Dungeons & Dragons dorks, to say nothing of not-ready-for-primetime tunes like "I'm an Idiot," "I Think I Might Be Gay" and, er, the one that goes, "I wrote this song for the soundtrack of Dawson's Creek..." We practically guarantee hilarity will ensue; if not, keep drinking until it does. Downstairs at the Gin Mill, 442 Amsterdam Ave. (betw. 81st & 82nd Sts.), 212-414-5293; 8 p.m., $5.

They have performed at Stand Up New York, Gotham Comedy Club and many other comedy clubs and rooms in New York City. Their songs have been heard on WFNX in Boston, WZON (owned by Stephen King), and XM Satellite Radio.
