The Rockefeller Fortune

The Rockefeller Fortune

The Rocekfeller Fortune is a band that knows how to rock, but hasn't forgotten about nice melodies and compelling stories. Authentic music told from the heart that's clever without being cold and romantic without being tright.

We made our first (and so far, last) recordings in the basement of a practice space with a giant boa constrictor beign kept in the closet. Turns out that the owner of the space was holding it for a friend of his. We were interrupted between a few takes for him to feed it mice.

All in all, though, I'm glad. Because there's nowhere to go from here but up, and we still had a great time, despite our unglamorous circumstances. We're all about playing our music and having a good time on stage, no matter where we are.

LP to come this winter.

Set List

Our typical setlist is 9-12 songs, about 45 minutes to an hour. We play almost all originals throughout, and will throw in covers occasionally. The sound moves up and down, back and forth between slow and fast, soft and loud, ballads and rockers, usually starting fast, moving towards more personal, softer songs, and then ending strong again.

As for covers, we try to do songs that aren't very well known, and try to perform versions of songs that are off-genre or that at least represent our eclectic influences. Some we've been working on: "Have a Cuppa Tea" by the Kinks, "She Left Me For Jesus" by Hayes Carll, and "Hallelujah, I'm a Bum" a traditional folk song.
