The best kept secret in music

This band has no press

I have released a single in conjunction with the band "Moshav" entitled: "Lift Up Your Head" (JMG records 2006). This was an original song that was incorporated into a song they were writing. It is available on itunes.
I also have my self produced debut album out entitled "Deeper Groove". It is available from CD BABY and will be available on itunes shortly.

Feeling a bit camera shy

"Can you find a deeper groove, that is so put you in a better mood...."
Yeah, that's what it's about.
Making good music with a message and feeling.

The Rockrites deliver groove and passion. The main inspiration for our playing is to reach those deep places inside where the music hurts sooooo good. This is achieved by what is the foundation of all things good - a solid drum an' bass section.
Amplify that with some cosmic moog sounds and bubbling keys; vocal harmonies that weave around the soaring melodies; and some blazing horn sounds, and you have got a classic hard reggae band called The Rockrites. How no-one else in Jamaica took that name, until this day, is a mystery.

Check your ego at the door, because it's all about the music. Gidon Shikler, the creator and lead singer/writer of the band believes that is what makes this music so special. Being influenced by the conscious reggae acts of the 1970's, and the folk, rock, jazz and world scene, it is easy to see why.

The Rockrites create a buzz wherever they play and leave the house rockin to the reggae beat. It is not the typical reggae band either. The foundation of the music is based in Gidon's solid reggae understanding, yet he also has an ability to synchronize influences from other genres and still create a roots sound. This is very rare and has the impact of reaching the hard core reggae buffs to the casual listener who has come out to check some good music.

The band is based in L.A., and travels frequently up north to the bay area. Bring out The Rockrites and you can do no wrong......
