"ALTSOUNDS (New York): 'New album is sure to catch many by pleasant surprise!' '"

"STICKY MAGAZINE: NXNE 2013 Review"

'The Roseville Band made the most of their long flight from Wales, by playing an impressive five NXNE sets. This band was one of those pleasant surprises we discovered last year and judging from the excitement in the crowd this was also true for many people this time around. The momentum and energy in the audience grew throughout the band’s set. Starting with the catchy "Temper", the title track from their current album, was the perfect build-up to their high energy set, as it allowed us to hear the full scale of lead singer, Andy Jones' voice. Though strong musicianship is of course one of the key elements of this bands catchy sound it is Andy's unique voice that captures your attention and leaves you wanting more.' - STICKY MAGAZINE

"LOUDER THAN WAR: 'High octane performance that spoke volumes for what they've achieved and what they undoubtedly will''"

LOUDER THAN WAR: 'The Roseville Band, turned in a polished and high octane performance that spoke volumes for what they have already achieved and what they undoubtedly will' (Louder Than War on FOCUS Wales 2013) - LOUDER THAN WAR

"ARTROCKER: 'Sound hits real hard and is larger than all of Wales itself!'"

'The Roseville Band dish out proper rock that is straight-down-the-highway anthems with cut-glass choruses. There are times when their sound hits real hard and is larger than all of Wales itself. I often wonder what would have happened if the Verve hadn’t made those wrong turns, when you hear TRB play you get half an idea, and it makes you grin from ear-to-ear.' - ARTROCKER

"NOW Toronto describe The Roseville Band!"

'THE ROSEVILLE BAND Jangly and heartfelt guitar-led rock and roll rhapsodies in the style of Wilco or electric Dylan all the hard-touring way from Wales, Great Britain.' - NOW Toronto

"NXNE 2012 Review: Sticky Magazine call us 'Standout' band of NXNE 2012!"

NXNE 2012 Review: Sticky Magazine call us 'Standout' band of NXNE 2012!

'Thursday night of NXNE at the Rancho Relaxo had a surprisingly good line-up, especially considering the size of the venue. It included a couple of bands that were easy picks, even against some of the better advertised line-ups, but also, a pleasant surprise lurked.

The Roseville Band

The Roseville Band were an NXNE standout at Rancho Relaxo on Thursday night. The Welsh foursome were back in Toronto after playing five showcases at Canadian Music Fest 2012. Vocalist/guitarist Andy Jones took to the stage with guitarist (and brother to Andy) Steve Jones, drummer James Edwards and bassist Neal Thompson.

The blues-rock "Goodbye" was Zeppelin-esque, with raspy, sometimes nasal vocals complementing the band's soulful sound. The melancholy "Sad Way to Go" brought to mind Kings of Leon and Deer Tick's John McCauley as the looping melody created a trancelike effect.

Andy switched to mandolin for "The Less I Want." Disclaimer: Anyone playing, or attempting to play a mandolin has my heart. "Thank you Taronna!" Andy shouted. "You say 'Taronna,' right?" Actually, Andy, we say "Toronn-oh" — but all good. "Stand" was sexy and commanding with its chorus, "Stand like I told you / Stand like I told you," led by a heavy guitar riff and hip-shaking drums. Whether affectation or accent, Andy's rolled r's were a fun addition.

Two official shows and four more unofficial shows during NXNE proved that this is a hardworking band. They drew much from styles of the past with no gimmicks needed to enhance their tight musicality and stage presence.' - Sticky Magazine

"Album Review by Mudkiss Fanzine"

The Roseville Band - Little Eyes in the Universe - The Roseville Band from Flintshire have been building a reputation & following through almost constant gigging in the UK & Europe. Led by Andy & Steve Jones, they've been likened to the Kings of Leon by NME. Whatever, they're a tight, feisty outfit, bursting with good tunes. Like the Cubical, they've got a classic bluesy rock sound as a base, but with an indie/individual sensibility too. Andy Jones has a very distinctive voice, & with his brother Steve makes a really good guitar sound. Like the Dinner Ladies, this album is another 10 tracks/30 mins or so affair, but the resemblance ends there. "Little Eyes in the Universe" has a real pace & structure to it, starting off with some strong tracks like "The Boxer", "Out of Control" & "My Town", before going on to show that they're not afraid to vary things as well.. Apparently the addition of a brass section was a turning point for the group, and they're strongest when brass & slide guitar twine & stretch around each other, as on the excellent "Bullet Eyes" & "Tatters". Andy Jones plays some nice mandolin, too, on slower tracks like "On our way" & "The Less I Want". There's a real consistency to this album - look out for the Roseville Band, they're coming your way & they're good! - Den Browne (Mudkiss Fanzine) - Mudkiss.com

"Liverpool Sound City 2010 Gig Review!"

'Hannah's on Hardman St had bands across two floors and I caught Wrexham's hidden treasures The Roseville Band. They may be based in the North Wales town but there is a very strong Liverpool influence in their sound. Apparently dubbed 'the Welsh Kings of Leon’ by NME but I personally think that comparison is based very loosely around the family connections within the band, certainly not their music. The epic nature of their songs and melodies however were perhaps a bit too big for this intimate setting but extra marks for the inclusion of a two piece brass section. Definitely one to keep an eye on..' Rich Denton Music-News.com - Music-News.com

Bio

The Roseville Band bring dark alt rock from the hills of Wales. Winning over BBC Radio with their debut releases, the band quickly turned heads on the UK indie scene with their 2010 & 2011 Tri-Tone/PIAS LPs; ‘Little Eyes In The Universe’ & ‘Shake The Walls’, respectively. UK festivals followed with shows at Glastonbury, and Sound City, and eventually international events Canadian Music Week & NXNE; where they were dubbed Standout International Act, and bagging a new label in the process. For their most recent LP, ‘TEMPER’ (2013), the band teamed up with Pipe & Hat / Fontana North in Canada. Bringing a darker alternative slant to their music, the release brought the band to the attention of new audiences around the world, with the band embarking on tours across Europe, Canada and USA in 2014, to great reviews. In support of the release, the band were also named BBC Artist of the Week in Wales, and playlisted by the BBC for 6 consecutive weeks. 2015 saw the band retreat to base in the Welsh countryside for the writing and recording of their new LP. The forthcoming ‘Blood’ LP sees the band holding a mirror up to the world around them. Lead singer Andy Jones explains: ‘With all of the conflict and division in the world today, it was impossible to stop that from influencing our new music. So it’s naturally a dark and angry record in places, but it’s hopeful as well.’ The ‘Blood’ LP sees the band kick on from their previous offerings, with an explosive mix which has them primed for new frontiers upon its autumn 2016 release.
